Customer Reviews & Testimonials
This has been a terrible experience the past 2 plus years. My business phones and internet have been horrible. I "upgraded" my internet only to learn that it's worse than what I had to begin with. Hurricane Helene caused an outage in GA for my phone service in AL. I understand that happens. What I don't understand is that I contacted Knology multiple times over that week and was very understanding and patient. I just was trying to understand how other people in my area got their phones back up on Oct 1st but I didn't. At the end of the week, a rep explained to me that I should have had someone out to reset my phone modem because I had an outdated modem. He scheduled someone to come out at 2:30 on Thursday. I confirmed my appointment after 2:30 because nobody showed up. It said 2:30-4:00pm. At 4:30 I called again and again it confirmed my appointment. I waited and spoke with an agent and he told me that someone forgot to put my appointment in a queue. I don't understand that since it had my appointment time on the automated phone queue. Anyway, 6pm Thursday they are resetting my phones. Not a great thing to have business lines down for 4.5 out of my 5 day work week. I made the decision to go somewhere more reliable like Verizon and now I'm being told it will be a $700 disconnect fee. Knology can go away.
Due to payment being outrageous, I am cutting back my service. Now, I just have to get the boxes to them
Madison, AL: As far as cable goes - I don't particularly love their cable lineup, and the lack of HD content. On the other hand, their internet service and support is 5 stars! I'm in an older, big apartment complex and *still* get great speeds. Every time I've had to get tech support, I get an actual tech - not someone reading from a script. They even called me directly after I left a question on their twitter account!! How many providers do you know that would go out of their way like that?? Again, if it wasn't for the mediocre cable TV lineup, I'd give them 5 stars.
These people are by far the most unreasonably terrible "professionals" it has ever been my displeasure to deal with. I was a college student at UAH in Huntsville, and when I moved out in December of 2012 I tried to cancel my service. When I first signed up, I had no credit history, and they told me that in order to avoid the deposit, I could use my mother's dob and SSN to create this account. All the other information was my own, including the signature, phone number, and personal information. I asked the rep if this would cause any problems, to which he promptly told me it would cause no trouble. Flash forward a few months, they are calling collection services on me, WITHOUT NOTIFYING ME PRIOR THAT I EVEN HAVE A BALANCE, after I have tried 3 seperate times to cancel the account at the address I haven't lived at in seven months. They won't let me cancel the account, because "I am not the account holder." It shouldn't matter who I am, I am the one paying the bills, I signed the accountholder agreement, and I have proof to that effect. These people have effectively stolen a LARGE sum of money from me. Now I am having to pay another $30 in shipping to return their modem, which I was originally going to hang on to until they agreed to cancel my service. A sales rep finally conceded to me that as the non-account-holder(?) I could cancel my service if I presented the modem, and a notice with account number of my intent to cancel the service... this was after months of being billed and multiple phone calls. This company is irresponsible to a point of being just plain asinine, I wish I could go back in time and tell myself to just use the slow campus internet. Worst experience I have had with any company in any industry, to date.
2014 Review Knology was bought by WOW Communications. I moved to a new neighborhood, got cable installed, bought my own modem, and pretended I had never had a Knology account before. Since 2012, I have had consistent 25 Mbps Down without any customer service issues. Problems appear to be resolved. Old Review from 2011: I have had internet speeds as high as 30 Mbps Down. For a little while, while they were doing something special in my area, I had 25 Mbps for like six months. I'm supposed to have 12 Mbps, but I range 3 Mbps to 6 Mbps unless I call them. After I hang up, I will go back up to 12 Mbps. They gave me a DOCSIS 2.0 modem, but it didn't tell me on my bill that I was being charged $4 a month for a rental fee. They have refused to give me a DOCSIS 3.0 modem, saying, "You will get the next modem available which may be a 1.0 up to 3.0." Oh, and "If the tech. doesn't find anything wrong, we will charge you $30 for the visit." And they put a security shield on MY SIDE of the coax filter, so I can't move the modem from one room to another without either paying Knology $50 to do it for me or buying a coax shield tool on Amazon for $5. Guess what's coming in the mail next week? Customer service is severely lacking in this company. I would pay a competitor double for 25 Mbps and good customer service, but Knology has a monopoly on my neighborhood, so all I get is the short-end of the stick. Being a customer for seven years means nothing to them. I pray for the day when wireless / satellite data rates reach a consistent 6 Mbps+, because I will never participate in a land line infrastructure ever again. When you look on Google, you will see Knology, Comcast, MediaCom, AT&T, and whatever big name internet provider -- they will all have one to two star ratings. Why? Because they barely overlap each other. 90% of all their clients have no choice but to either move or use their service if they want high speed internet. We have half a dozen providers in the area, but you are not likely to live somewhere that you would have a choice between two. Free Market + Infrastructure + Eminent Domain = Monopoly. There are few things that big government does well, but infrastructure is one of them.
Disappointed there is no walk-in service center for my parents to add service or exchange defective equipment. The only option is the remote call center or a technician service call.
Just spoke with Tricia in Augusta, GA. She is so nice and polite even though i'm a bad customer... I always forget to pay my bill, and get sent to collections alot, but when ever I talk to them they are so nice and polite. Every Installer I've had from them has been a subcontractor, and tehy almost always tell me that they have to do better jobs than the in-house guys otherwise they don't get to keep their contract... so glad to see they value their jobs as much as anyone... i only have internet and phone services from knology and I can't complain I always have faster than advertised speeds for my cable internet and phone always works.
Signed up in oct. Now it is nov. And the internet and tv six's why do I pay for the edge package when I get about 10megsoutfits or less speed down? Tv sound is bad !! U can hear filtered noise in the HD channels.
