ITH Hermosa Beach Surf Hostel LAX

Perfect for a friends or solo trip It been a while I didn't stay in a hostel but due to the location of it I just went for it! Extremely easy to find, well located, clean, the staff were nice and helpful. The hostel is a bit old but well maintained. Only one issue, the bunk beds are noisy. I've stayed only one night so, I didn't bothered to change the bed, but I noticed the same on the other occupied bed. Maybe just add some oil, could be great . Breakfast is super basic but there is plenty of choices around, the smoothie shops open up at 7:30am. I'll be back for sure

My trip was wonderful! All I need to be happy is a roof over my head and great vibes. That is what ITH hostel provided. I got lucky because I met great people who made my trip special. A huge thanks to Bruno and Nicole for placing a happy birthday sign outside my room. That was so sweet and they went above and beyond for me and I appreciate that so much. An unforgettable trip, stunning views. The room was right in front of the beach and close to areas that were popular. I loved waking up in the morning and walking on the strand to get my strawberry matcha latte from GITANA.

Private room with bathroom right next to the beach. paid parking lot nearby for up to three hours so you can unload the car and get some food and check in. Then move your car up the road near Von's supermarket and leave it overnight until 9am. It's a ten minute walk. Can't give five stars as there were a few issues. This is a hostel even though I booked it through hotels dot com. As such they said the rules are you must show is showing an address you live more than 300 miles away. That stressed us out a bit on the drive down. The private bathroom has a teeny shower but no washcloth or soap but there were two towels. It took running the water for a few minutes for it to warm up but never got hot. Although the water from the sink WAS hot so this was just an issue with the shower. As other reviews indicated it's loud outside from all the nearby clubs and nightlife but got quiet eventually. It is very peaceful to wake up near the ocean in the morning.

I stayed here a bunch of times.. and also worked for ITH when I was 19. But the service I received recently was so beyond devastating... I arrived when the power was out and one of the "managers" supposedly told me she couldn't help me because the power was out and told me to leave. "Find another hotel" mind you, I arrived expressed no sense of aggression or hostility. I left. I came back tonight for another reservation. After I expressed how I received no customer service to the "manager" that was a lady with blonde hair (she said it was her second hour working) she said she was going to call the cops and that she couldn't help me. I've never felt more discriminated in my life. A customer should never feel threatened over expression certain concerns for the service they received. This is unbelievable on the owner Jimmy's part and the "workers" he hires. I am beyond disappointed and devastated. edit** This is not a safe environment to walk into nor are the "workers" trustworthy. I would record a simple interaction as they lie and you would want to keep evidence. Beware!

I had a booking for April 16, 2025, and stored my luggage with the hostel earlier in the day, planning to return during their check-in window (4 PM to 12 AM). Unfortunately, due to Uber delays, I called the hostel at 11:42 PM to inform them I'd arrive around 12:15 AM. I explained that my luggage was already in their storage and asked for assistance or flexibility, especially since their registration email said to contact the team for any modifications.||||Despite this, I was told no one could assist me after midnight--not even to retrieve my luggage. I was left stranded overnight without shelter or access to my belongings, which caused significant stress and extra expenses.||||Though they eventually processed a refund, the lack of basic support, rigid policies, and disregard for a guest in a difficult situation were incredibly disappointing. I would not recommend this hostel to anyone who may experience even minor travel delays, especially solo travelers.

Let's start by saying that all I need to be happy is a roof over my head and great vibes!!! The hostel offered just that and more. I was obsessed with the free breakfast in the morning. I love to cook so I went to Trader Joe's and would cook some nights. The location is perfect literally can get anywhere with public transportation or a car. Bruno, Nicki, Nicole and unfortunately can't remember everyone's name but the staff was sweet, respectful, and minded there business lol like they let me do my thing. They helped me with any questions. They also put a lot effort to help me enjoy myself!! I laughed, I danced, I met amazing new people. The most sweetest thing was Bruno and Nicole put a happy birthday sign outside my room that made me feel so special. Literally melted my heart. Highly recommend this place. I Will be returning because I have so much more to explore in the city of angels. I am Puerto Rican 4"11 girl from CT solo traveling to an unknown area. I was so scared lol but I could have not picked a better safer spot! You should Book already what are you waiting for ???!

Planned to go for 2 weeks but the manager Bruno was acting unprofessionally so I cancelled the stay. Someone needs to remind that guy that his job is to satisfy customers on behalf of the corporation that pays him to do so, and not be rude, arrogant, suspicious, judgmental, egotistical, and/or disrespectful. He also would not provide the phone number for ownership so I could explain why I will not stay there because of Bruno, and my booking agent is similarly attempting to contact the owner to complain about this manager's offensive behavior and attitude. If you are the owner and see this review, you need to do something to ensure your manager Bruno acts professionally, hospitably, responsibly, and in a welcoming and in a non-discriminatory manner. He is giving your property a bad reputation, and there is another complaint about him on this site as well.

This hostel is steps from the most beautiful beach and boardwalk. Lots of restaurants nearby. This was my first and last time I'd ever stay at a hostel. It was very loud and I could not sleep due to other guests and surrounding businesses getting deliveries at all hours of the night. I had a private room with ensuite but it was very old and in need of repair. It was also dirty like the rest of the building. Lots of stairs so having luggage was not easy.
