Customer Reviews & Testimonials

Amy Hull

Chicago ComputerLand is the only place I will take my laptop for repairs. They are fair, knowledgeable, and do good work. I've NOT had to replace my computers several times because they were able to help. They are also GREAT for cleaning out all the dust, debris, and FUR/hair build-up from having many cats!

Okay to be transparent, this review is one I posted on Yelp 5 years ago. But I was a broke student so still kinda salty. I added this update to Yelp just now: "I don't use Yelp as much as Google reviews anymore. Was going through my old reviews and forgot how funny this guy's reply was. Definitely edited the numbers quoted by Dell. Lol why would they have quoted the motherboard being more expensive than a brand new version of that laptop. This place stinks". He replied to me on Yelp with a copied and pasted transcript from Dell. I'm sure it was copied and pasted and untouched lol. If anyone is on the fence, I can find the receipts from Dell in my old emails to show you. Original review: "I brought my laptop in about a couple of months ago for repairs since it wasn't charging. They had me drop it off for the diagnostics test. They told me it was a motherboard issue and not just the charging port. I allowed them to fix the charging port, but said I would figure out whether or not to replace the motherboard since it is quite expensive. I had to call quite a few times for updates and was told it would take time to change so wait for their call. However, I never got a call so I called back and he said that he told me it was ready to pick up already. Okay, that was a lie. When I came in to pick it up, he explained everything they tried which was nice. As I was leaving, I realized half my AC adapter was some secondhand cable and asked for my original back. He went back and forth and grabbed me 3-4 different cords which did not match. Instead of apologizing, he just said that they do the same thing. I get that, but come on.. it's common practice to not lose original items. I ended up contacting Dell directly to have the motherboard replaced for much less than I was quoted here. When the on-site repair guy got to working on my laptop, he told me that the parts seemed all over the place as if the person putting them back had no clue what they were doing. On top of that, screws were put in wrong holes and many screws are missing. It sounds like a small issue, but the case sometimes pops open when I open or close the lid and that sucks. Having a 4 star-rating isn't everything and I regret paying so much money to have to fix issues they created when they're supposed to make repairs".

Alex, the owner of this shop is a genius. I took my 10 year old MacBook Air to his place for a repair. It wouldn't boot up or charge when plugged in. He did a quick diagnostic by removing the back plate. He then disconnected the battery, ran the laptop on charger power. It booted up quickly. He then disconnected the power supply and reconnected the battery. Just like that my 10 year old MacBook is back to normal. It took maybe 10 minutes. He's the go to guy for anything computer related. That includes smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop.

My computer was making the saddest noises and wouldn't turn on. Normally I have a friend who is my Fixer Of All Things but he's in no condition to help right now. I called Computerland and brought the problem child in. Alex diagnosed the problem right on the spot and in less than 10 minutes I was on my way. He was knowledgeable, friendly and his prices are very fair. The next time my PC acts up again, I already know who to call. Save yourself time and headaches and call Alex first.

Alex from computer LLC fixed my computer. He is very professional kind, respectful and most of all, he is the person I can trust all the way which is very important to me. He is very patient in answering all my question too, which is great.

I left my laptop a couple of months ago to get it fixed it died suddenly and I wasn't sure why. I'm not sure the name of the other associate that was there but there were times that he did not know a lot of information about the status of my computer, so Alex which I believe is the owner took over and made sure that it was properly fixed. Come to find out I just need a new battery. He was very helpful and was able to get my computer running within just a couple of days. Thank you, Alex! I'm telling all my friends to come to you!

Alex is a great guy and super professional about what he does. I had some issues arise during My repairs with him that resulted in it taking a couple months longer than expected and when I brought up my concerns to him, he offered to do it for free. This is the perfect example of how to run a small business, And I'm glad I was a customer of his.

I had a computer that I thought was done, and would've required me sending it in to the manufacturer. I instead brought it to Chicago ComputerLand first, and Alex fixed it good as new. This place will take good care of you, works at costs better than anywhere else, and has a fair turnaround time. Really grateful to have Chicago ComputerLand and Alex in the neighborhood!
