Bought "shared Linux hosting" for a year, previously used AWS for hosting because of subscription cost shifted to HostGator. But after few months of pilot usage, comes to know their server response speed is very low and NOT recommended to use. Finally, again continue to use my previous AWS server.
I think my biggest mistake to buy VPS from the hostgator, firstly I had purchased RAW VPS HOSTING from them and installed node.js app on port 80 but port 80 doesn't work due to firewall policy. While I made call to customer care they always ask that they can not provide any type of support, after multiple complaints level 2 has resolve the firewall policy issue but when you do re-start the server this issue again rise. They advised me to get better support you have to buy control pannel, with Linux Ubantu VPS I had purchased PLESK pannel. Now I had again called to customer care now they are saying that they still can't provide any type of support, you have to install node.js app Mannual from VNC ACCESS. I am totally fed-up and loss 64000 rupees with them with 0 return. There are many hosting service provider like hostinger, vcclhosting but I was thinking that they are expensive maybe they will provide better support but I was totally wrong. I will suggest you buy hosting service from the developer they are better than hostgator. I had paid around 21000 per year for VPS SERVER NVME4 PLAN. VPS server is bought with PLESK pannel 3 years term.
Has Baby Plan for the past 10 years where all my websites are hosted. Never had any problem with the hosting itself. Small hiccups with the websites themselves are resolved ASAP by the customer service executives.
I was a customer with Hostgator India before, and moved to InmotionHosting. And now my client uses VPS from Hostgator India. The main problem is, when you start a live chat with the support team(only after logging into your account), the person who attends you would have less knowledge than what you expect. They are mostly like front office executives, who doesn't know much. They act like a messenger between you and the super admins. But there are some who have good knowledge and if you are lucky, they will be the ones attending you. Also, you need to be more patient when you talk with the support. Also, if you are in a hurry, the live chat support person won't help you. Because they have limited access. You have to open a ticket and wait for the super server admins to respond. Another thing is, their dashboard is minimal. You won't see any detailed information regarding your hosting plan from there. It would just say Snappy 6000 and no other information. Would have been easier if there's more details about the current plan. If you want to see the previously opened tickets by you, then you won't be able to see it unless you search in your registered email id. Because their dashboard doesn't list your previous tickets. I should say that they have improved, but still many more to go. Some years ago, it was pathetic. And if you talk with the product experts (from their sales team) when purchasing a new plan, they might be able to give you a good discount than what is actually shown in the website, for a longer tenure like 6 months or above.
Had this really bad experience with HostGator recently so wanted to share it with others (Case ID 37537647) They have this policy that if you buy a shared hosting and the plan expires and you don't renew it for whatever reason and then renew after a certain period of time, you will not be charged from the date of renewal, instead of from the date of suspension. in my case, my plan expired on the 20th of November and I did not renew it till 16th December because I didn't need it. but upon renewal on 16th December, It got expired and was suspended again on 20th in 4 days. now there are a few issues with this policy: 1) when I buy a subscription, I get a list of resources/services file storage, database(SQL), CPU/Processing time, network usage, CPanel/other web portals, FTP account, free SSL, backups, technical support these are just what I can recall at moment but there are plenty of other services that I get to use with my active plan. however when my plan is expired and suspended. I do not use any of these except one(storage). AND IT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE TO CHARGE THE SAME AMOUNT FOR 10 OR 20 SERVICES AS JUST 1 SERVICE. 2)for almost no other utility you get this kind of policy You buy a SIM subscription which comes with an expiry date, after that your calls stop working. if you do another recharge after let's say 2 months. you won't be charged from the date of expiration. reason? YOU DID NOT USE THEIR SERVICES FOR THAT DURATION. another example. electricity. let's say you did not pay your bill and it got disconnected. and remained so for the next 6 months. and then you pay dues and start using again. next time when your bill comes it won't include charges for that 6 months period(maybe a very small amount but definitely not the same as active usage). I talked with their customer support team on call and chat multiple times. and the calls lasted for hours. I tried to explain in whatever way I could but all that they had to say for my every explanation was "sir this is a policy we cannot do anything". to which I agree if this is policy and I agreed on this anyhow during the initial subscription then company is not responsible. and that's why this post is not a "Complaint". it is just an informative post for others regarding one of HostGator's seemingly unjust policy that is hidden somewhere in their long T&C document.
Horrible experience, think 100 times before purchasing anything here. You'll regret it everyday.
Begun with an essential Baby facilitating plan with Hostgator India and from that point forward it's been 2 years and I have updated my plan twice for expanding business. Great effort by the support team for being accessible for every single question I had and for steady help. Wondering why the reviews aren't good, customer support is excellent and the server speed as well.. Alway ready to help and I am very satisfied.. Was wondering what problems people might be facing to give awful reviews, I have been hosting my website with them for a very long time and it never gave me an issue recently my dashboard was extremely slow so I contacted them and they helped me by pointing out the issue which wasn't related to the server!
