Customer Reviews & Testimonials
The hotel was a perfect location for an overnight stay. My room was clean and comfortable. Only complaint was the blow dryer. I'd bring my own next time. Also, didn't find out until I checked out that there was a charge for parking. Reasonable, but unexpected. All in all a nice stay!
Really cool older hotel. Would have loved to have seen it in it's heyday. Staff was friendly at check-in and exit. It has a covered parking garage which is nice to get out of the weather. The hostess for the restaurant was great and talkative. I would have liked to have seen a small refrigerator and microwave in our room. Some more maintenance and upkeep of the hotel is needed. Seems like the hotel is run on a very tight budget, and maintenance is usually one of the first things that gets cut. But there could have been several small things done to make the hotel look and remain beautiful without costing very much money.
I stayed at this hotel with my girlfriend about a week ago. Upon arrival, it was clear that the property is in need of some updates. The water fountain was out of order, the carpet in the garage elevator was dirty, and the rooms felt outdated. However, there were a few positives worth mentioning. The breakfast was great, and the front desk staff stood out. I spoke with Aylia and Elizabeth several times during our stay, and they were both extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Their friendly service made a noticeable difference in our experience.
My room was very clean, reasonably priced and clean smelling too! The room was decorated stylishly, the king bed was comfortable and the hotel was quiet despite being busy. Teresa at the front desk was friendly, quick and professional. The hotel is close to many restaurants and the quaint downtown area. I would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it to others!
This place has an awesome location, cool interior, and clean rooms, however the service at the front desk was subpar. The lady had a lot on her plate, there was a baseball tournament in town, and it was apparent that the stress was getting to her. She wasn't very helpful or courteous. I'll give the benefit of the doubt that she would be more helpful and kind on a less stressful day so I give a three for service. Side note, the elevators are transparent and are fun to ride. The view from high floors is also beautiful.
In town for Shelbyfest with friends. Check in went smooth and the woman behind the counter was very friendly and knowledgeable. For starters this hotel has seen better days. The fountain has been out for a very long time. The room really needs a new mattress (kind of curved in the middle) and the rooms could definitely use a mini fridge. Our room was missing the desk portion of the table in comparison to our friends room. Apparently the breakfast switched from a buffet to order off of a limited menu on our first morning there. While the croissant was nice I didn't think a microwave egg round justified a $12 charge for the breakfast sandwich. The positives of this hotel are the staff, the parking , and the proximity of downtown.
We called them last minute for 23 rooms and it took them two hours they called in extra employees to do even do it. The rooms were fine looked updated since last year, clean and nice! The hotel we had escaped a reservation from was a nightmare and capitol made it so much better. Last year when we stayed the chemicals in the pool caused rashes but this year it was great. Since last year the rooms have been updated and slowly you can tell they're working hard to improve the hotel. It seriously is an older hotel with a huge water fall area that doesn't work but oh well. It's got two elevators so a lot complain about the wait but it's 9 floors and people just need to be patient. The lobby is amazing for huge groups with all of the tables. I wasn't a huge fan of the breakfast. The staff were amazingly accommodating and helped us so much with whatever we needed to borrow for the rooms etc. Parking lot was great for buses! Be careful 2nd floor does have windows that open to the roof of the parking overhang so if you have groups just go 3rd and up and have no worries. They had all of the complimentary soaps too, plenty of hot water.
I was needing a place to stay for a quick overnight before I headed out next morning to continue my trip. The front desk was super friendly, the room was nice and clean, and they even had a nice bar area to grab a drink. The only thing that surprised me was the fee to park in the lot it wasn't expensive but was the first time I ever had to pay to park at a hotel. ($10). I really I give 5 stars across the board. Oh, and the Bartender worked her butt off as she had a big group there. She did an awesome job taking care of everyone.
