Customer Reviews & Testimonials
5 Stars - A Must-Visit Historic Gem! Climbing the 228 steps to the top of the Absecon Lighthouse is absolutely worth it! The 360-degree view from the top is breathtaking and gives you a unique perspective of Atlantic City and the coastline. The lighthouse is well-maintained, and the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. There's a small museum and a charming gift shop at the base, which add to the experience. Parking is limited to about 10-12 spaces, but we had no trouble finding a spot. At just $10, it's a great value for a bit of local history, exercise, and unforgettable views. Highly recommended!
It was a nice experience coming here. If it's too high to make it all the way up in one shot for you, there are six landings where you can take a break. It was a nice view up top. Small though. Definitely tight spacing overall. Probably really pretty at night. Lighthouse keeper is friendly. When you make it up there, he gives you a little card congratulating you for making it which is so cute. It wasn't too bad going up for me but when going back down, my legs felt jiggly. I can see the height through the little holes in the stairs. The little gift shop downstairs is pretty neat too. Wasn't too pricey to go up. $10 adults and $5 kids. There's definitely a lot of history here. Feels like a little museum.
I do not regret going here despite my fear of heights. (I am unsure of my fear level ). I enjoyed the gift shop and I picked out a cute key chain. The fun started at the 4th landing. The 4th landing and upwards is where the thrill was at for me. The lighthouse keeper at the top was knowledgable and shared so much history. I'm a bit embarrassed by what the keeper may or may not have heard me say as I was getting closer to the top lol. Going up and going back down in my opinion are two separate thrilling experiences. Going back down was scarier since I was already happy to finally make it to the top lol. I'm so happy that I did this and it was a great experience and a wonderful memory to look back on.
This weekend we participated in the 25th Lighthouse Challenge NJ - The challenge is to visit 11 lighthouse sites, 3 lifesaving stations, and 1 museum over the two day weekend. Stop #8. We've been to this lighthouse several times. It's lovely. The volunteers are very nice and full of knowledge. There's a nice store with books and souvenirs. There are gardens and plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the surroundings. Parking lot available and also plenty of street parking.
My family and I stopped at the lighthouse during a weekend adventure in South Jersey. Very beautifully kept, alot of history and the shop has gifts for all ages. We didn't climb up but you can!
Marvelous lighthouse and landmark. The tallest lighthouse in NJ offers a lot of history and the joy of learning more about the purpose of a light beacon. It has an organized parking lot, and the entrance has a $10 fee for adults. There are 228 steps and 6 landings. The lighthouse employees were quite knowledgeable and friendly (both at the museum and shop/ top).
Grandma and Grandpa took our two oldest granddaughters to Abescon lighthouse. This was the first Lighthouse tour for the younger but we have done a number of them both here and abroad. They have created a nice museum filled with information about the history of the lighthouse. For me, the highlight was climbing the stairs to the top where I received my card that said "I saw the light"! My granddaughter is afraid of heights but I had her walk behind me as we went up and down the stairs and she did okay. But I don't know that she'll do one again. But I also know that she doesn't like being left behind, so we'll see.
The Absecon Lighthouse in Atlantic City, New Jersey, is a historic marvel offering panoramic views. Standing 171 feet tall, it's New Jersey's tallest lighthouse. Visitors can climb 228 steps to the top, explore a museum, and enjoy a well-preserved keeper's house. The lighthouse, first lit in 1857, provides a glimpse into maritime history and remains a captivating landmark. I was impressed with the knowledge and dedication of the staff that were working during my visit. Overall a great experience for families... I would definitely recommend purchasing small items from their shop to support the build and upkeep of their facilities.
