Federal prosecutors said Timothy Taylor, 39, who owned Data Brilliance Software LLC in Greece, filed fraudulent applications between July 2020 and August 2021 for Payroll Protection Program loans, designed to help small businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Taylor claimed he had 87 employees and a monthly payroll of $607,000, according to prosecutors, but in reality only had one employee who was paid $10,000 for the entire year. Prosecutors said Taylor received a total of $1.5 million, which he used for personal expenses.
