Customer Reviews & Testimonials
This was an interesting experience as I had never stayed in a hostel before. My son had in Europe and suggested it for our trip. The house is older but kept clean. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans and areas to keep your things separate from the other guests. There are only two bathrooms and yet there didn't seem to be any issues even with so many people there. Something to keep in mind is if a person snores, they keep everyone else from sleeping well...in this case, the snorer was me.
I booked a night on airbnb and didn't realize it was a hostel first, but I was not disappointed. The place is very well managed. I was greeted by a very nice host who lives in the building next door, he checked me in and answered all my questions. The place has 2 bedrooms with 2 bunk beds each, a shared kitchen open to a living room. There is also shower and laundry. The materials and furniture are very basic, but everything is good working order. Everything is clean, no odors etc. You're expected to make your meal and clean up, there was plenty of stocked coffee, cream and snacks to put together a nice breakfast. Good Wi-Fi. I think we had 6 or 7 people in, some stayed up late in the living room, but the bedrooms were fairly quite, so I had no problem sleeping. It's in the town close to the airbase, so it's definitely not a cabin feel. But it also means there is plently of stores/restaurants around and parking is not a problem either.||||Overall, the biggest catch is a lack or privacy in shared rooms (if there are many guests, they dedicate girls/boys room, or, I guess, they can give a room to a family), otherwise it's conveniently located, clean, quite and reasonably place to stay. And if you travel solo - can't beat the price.
I made a reservation for both me and my boyfriend for a day through Airbnb. After 10-hours flight and driving 6 hours, some rest was going to make our day. After seeing the place, I was shocked and could not make even check-in, unfortunately. It was the opposite of most reviews and I thought the post was a scam. First, both the person who welcomed us and the house did not fit the profile and the pictures or reviews on Airbnb and google. The person could be the helper though but I will never know because he did not introduce himself. Secondly, the house was very dirty and dusty. So, my allergic rhinitis was coming back. The most disturbing part was I did not feel comfortable and safe during 10 min house tour even though I was with my boyfriend. The person who walked us around asked if the place meet our expectations. We were both scared to say no to this question because of the way he asked and looked. As soon as we headed back to our car, we wrote back to the landlord and explained we can not stay there. The good part is they were helpful in responding to our request. I am happy that things got sorted out in the end. Everyone cannot be this lucky though. So, I would not recommend this place at all if you want to stay in a safe and clean place.
Not fancy but clean and comfortable. Best sleep I had my entire trip.||Host graciously was up late waiting on my post midnight arrival. ||Being a hostel bath and kitchen are shared but things were clean. ||May not be the best place for a woman traveling alone if she is not comfortable being surrounded by men in a shared environment. Women's sleeping quarters are in their own room but there may not be other female guest and door does not lock.
This is a very cozy hostel for a good price. The host and hostess are very kind and helpfull! The guests are awesome, I made some good friends here! The rooms are big enough for four people. It's not always clean everywhere, but as a backpacker and traveller I don't care. If you want you can even sleep outside in a tent (your own or you can rent one) or you can rent a treehouse in the garden (where you have your privacy). The location of this hostel is nearby downtown Fairbanks.
Wonderful! Family home converted to a hostel by the mom! People of diverse ages and different stages of life. Good sleeping arrangements, nice bathrooms and kitchen and living areas. Would definitely stay here again!
The kindness of the hosts here are unparalleled! I checked in booked and absolutely past last minute and Alex very kindly accommodated me at an ungodly hour of the morning. They advised me on all the great things to do here and how to get around. I have made friends and memories for life. It's a cozy hostel, very hot showers, free Wi-Fi, full kitchen, no curfew, all for a very good price.
It advertised a room for $17, but when we got there he charged us $30. The $17 rate was for a tent in the back yard. It was very dirty - I have been to about 15 hostels and it is by far the dirtiest for comparable prices. It was also way out of town. If you are walking, it will take you and your from the center of town. Also when I was walking there, my brother and I saw prostitutes, homeless people, and creepers in vans giving cat calls. The 9th avenue hostel is much much better. If they had charged $17 I wouldn't be giving this review, but because it was the same price as really nice ones, I was really disappointed with it.
