Great Bear Vineyards

Very beautiful spot and great wines in Davis! I attended Davis over a decade ago before this was there. Family owned winery that also has a lavender field, beautiful property, and they also have air bnbs on property. They have a nice tasting area and friendly servers and hosts!

Wonderful vineyard just ~20 minutes drive outside of Sacramento! The staff is very welcoming and kind. They didn't rush us, even though we came to do a wine tasting just 30 minutes before closing, and even gifted us a bottle of their signature olive oil. We enjoyed the variety of wines they offered during the tasting experience and even bought 2 bottles to go!

We had our UC consortium at this place. We have held our banquet at least 2 times over the last 2 years. The sunset was especially stunning at Palm Garden. Our guests from Southern California have enjoyed the banquet very much. I personally don't consume alcohol but our guests liked them. They work with catering called Simply Satisfied who had a wonderful cook to supply us with food within our budget. Very good service and fantastic experience. Reservation required for our 30 people event.

This is a local winery in the Davis area. The place has a nice location north of Davis and in the middle of the fields. The infrastructure is Spanish with some nice barns around. The tasting room is nice, well decorated and with tons of space. There is also an area for activities for mid to large groups. The space is well illuminated and provides a cozy ambience. Wine was way above my expectations. Some grapes come from the Davis area and others from adjacent wine regions such as Lodi. The entrance has a sign that says visitors by appointment only but perhaps call ahead and see if they take you in short notice. Will highly recommend to visit and enjoy a nice weekend afternoon.

Visited Great Bear with our Aunt who was picking up her club order...tasted amazing wine, not one we didn't like. Loved the grounds as well, beautiful. Would recommend this winery and would have become a club member if they shipped to Washington state. We'll visit again when we return to Davis.

Beautiful venue for Mother's Day - very special music

We had my husband's birthday at Great Bear in March 2024 and it was an absolute hit! Most of our party had never been there before, and EVERYONE wants to come back frequently! The whole Great Bear team was easy and professional to work with; they connected us with Simply Satisfied Catering to create a menu for our lunch, and everything from both entities was delicious and reasonably priced. Great Bear is honestly the best Napa-like winery without the drive; it is a gorgeous property; kids are welcome and enjoyed playing tag on the grounds; they set up everything for our party and were willing to accommodate date changes and special requests. Anywhere else would be impersonal and costly, and you just can't beat the small, family feeling with Great Bear. Did we mention the wine is delicious?! Highly highly recommend!
