Captain Vineyards

My wife and I called day of and Sal was gracious enough to accommodate us. So lucky we decided to head to Captain's on somewhat of a whim. The wine was great, scenery was beautiful, and company was unmatched. Sal gave us a tour, talked to us about winemaking, and was great company as we sampled the wines. We had the place to ourselves. A true hidden gem and very reasonably priced. Thanks Sal and we hope to be back soon!

We had an absolutely wonderful time. The vineyard is owned and operated by a warm and welcoming couple. Sal is a phenomenal host - he provides such great context and information about the excellent wine selection. The ambiance and scenery is second to none. We will be returning the next time we are in town!

We visited this place for the first time for a friend visiting the US. When we arrived, I was a little embarrassed because I couldn't find the signboard, but I found out that it was such a private space. A really beautiful and peaceful hideout. A secret space you want to hide... Literally, even if there are people who haven't been there, it's a beautiful winery that no one seems to have been to only once. Five stars isn't worth it. You will be greeted by friendly owners and really cute puppies... Strongly recommended!

Wonderful experience here! Great wine and awesome view! Extremely thankful for the owner who was willing to spend some time with us to go over the history of this family owned vineyard. Their wine is full of layer that wow me from the beginning. Overall, I'm glad that I visit this place. Would definitely come back again if I have chance! (Not to mention their dog- Cleo is so cute )

I should have come to this family-owned, sustainability-minded vineyard many years ago since I moved to Moraga. After experienced 10+ Hollywood-style Napa vineyards and more wine tastings, the experience at Captain's was just perfect. A sunny afternoon with cool breeze, golden hills decorated by green vines, wines and bread made for tastes instead of yield, super knowledgeable and friendly hosts. I can talk with Saul, the owner and his lovely wife, Susan forever. This place is enchanted with healing power...

Beautiful vineyard on the hill slope owned and operated by a lovely, warm and very welcoming couple! The visit required appointment in advance through email. Sal was a delight to talk to on the phone as he explained the process of booking and the per person pricing(which can also be found on their website). My gf and I were received at the gate by Susan and her husky Cleopatra We followed her down the steps with fruit trees on one side and the vineyard on the other. She narrated a well woven story of the different grape Vines, their growing process and the history of the place. Sal greeted us at the Cellar and guided us into the cool(literally and figuratively) cellar filled with the wonderful aroma coming from the Barrels and bottles of wine. Talking to him was a delight, everything from the wine making process to the origins of the curated French wood used for the Barrels was adding to the storyline that Susan began. We selected two bottles of wine, all named after his Grand Daughters He then proceeded to seat us at the beautiful deck, under the shade of trees, overlooking the vineyard. We enjoyed the very palatable bread (made by Susan), cheese(s) and dry fruits along with our delightful wines. All this as we were kept company by Caesar and Cleopatra (owner's dogs). All in all this was a picture perfect place run by a wonderful couple who provided us the tasty snacks and wines. This winery is one of a kind and provides an amazing experience, as we ended up spending 4hrs at the property

Just wow!! Sal gave us the BEST experience! We had a tour of their gorgeous vineyard then went to their cellar for the tasting. They offered cheese while we drank. Their wine was absolutely delicious and Sal was so informational and personal!! Best experience for not a lot of money, go see them for great wine and a great time!
