Customer Reviews & Testimonials
Disappointing Experience with Groupon Whale Watching Voucher I recently purchased a Whale Watching voucher through Groupon, and I'm extremely disappointed with the experience. The process for redeeming the voucher was fraught with issues from start to finish. The instructions directed me to the Sea Goddess Whale Watch website to redeem my voucher, but they were vague and unhelpful. Firstly, the voucher code provided didn't work at all. After several attempts to enter the code and confirm the booking, I found myself stuck with no way to proceed. To make matters worse, finding customer service support from Groupon was nearly impossible. Their website was confusing, and I couldn't locate a direct customer service number to resolve the issue. Overall, this experience has been incredibly frustrating and has left me questioning the reliability of Groupon's services. I would not recommend purchasing vouchers through Groupon based on my experience.
Feels like scammers now, both groupon and merchants! Groupon, today, is just a hit or miss. Lately, it feels that the dollar bill is so much more important than offering good customer service and good deals. They don't work you anymore when you encounter an issue with a merchant. And because merchants know to 'work' groupon, they know that people will not get their money back. It's unfortunate because the original idea behind groupon is a good one, now it's just scammers.
Initially, Groupon was a cost-effective service, but lately, I've encountered numerous issues with both Groupon and its contractors. Instead of saving money, I find myself paying twice. Unfortunately, the recent experiences have been disappointing, making it hard to recommend the service.
The Groupon app user interface is horrible. You have to scroll through pages of customer reviews before the fine print is revealed. They sold me tickets to the San Diego Zoo on 12/25/21 that expire on 12/31/21. When clicking to the cart it only highlights "selling fast", the purchase page does not detail if the voucher expires on 12/31/21. It is ridiculous that they would even list something on their page that would expire in less than 7 days. Customer support via chat is rude and unhelpful. No mercy for these situations. The zoo price was even the same price listed on the zoo's website so there isn't even a discount. Horrible system if they are willing to pinch customers in these situations
Groupon might have offered a good source for deals once, but people have figured out their scheme and now they're just a desperate cash grab doing their best to take advantage of customers and businesses alike. I've worked with them on the business-side, and they are giving merchants 50% of the price you pay, at best - so much for supporting local economies! But recently they've truly lost all decency, as well as my business. I bought a boat tour from them for a family getaway, only to discover that the merchant had lowered their prices last year, informed Groupon of the change, and Groupon kept the higher price listed! Not only that, but when I reached out to explain what I thought was a simple mistake on Groupon's part, I was told that no refund was possible. Policy or no, I expect a company to do the right thing when they blatantly rip off a long time customer. But not Groupon.
I bought a Groupon, 6 sessions and only got 1, but Groupon considers it "redeemed" anyway. I've emailed multiple times, because they don't have customer service by phone, and they consistently state that the coupon is redeemed even though I didn't get what I paid for. In addition, Neo Aesthetics (the Groupon I purchased) was unprofessional, cancelled my appointment because they can't maintain staffing, couldn't accommodate my schedule and were rude about it, and even though I left several messages for the owner no one has bothered to call me back. I paid Groupon for 6 sessions and only received 1 and they refuse to refund any of my money. I didn't get what I paid for that's either a con or theft! Now I'm forced to have my credit card company fight it out with them. Don't waste your money or time, its definitely not worth it in the end.
Before purchasing a Groupon you should realize the Expiration date is not the final day you can use the Groupon for the Promotion Amount. The final day according to their customer service is the day before the expiration date. If you move your cursor over the small circle with a ? in the center next to the expiration date in details it says different. So beware !! there are many people who try to use it the last day and will only receive the purchase amount and you still have to abide by the rules of the promotion amount. Not a good deal at all.
Groupon F'ing sucks!! Return Policy: In a nut shell and a bunch of BS words. The policy basically says no returns on goods. I know it says there are, but that's BS, because it states that depending on the item it might not be returnable. If you read the fine print pretty much everything is not returnable. I knew this before I got screwed. For services, you are buying a voucher, it's not a gift card or cash. This means that if you try to return it you will get Groupon credit (if that), which is less useful than the toilet paper I use to wipe my ass. Keep this in mind people you are truly rolling the dice on Groupon. Why did I buy? I was very skeptical because this place sounds like a scam. Sorry, if I read all the fine print, but I'm not an idiot. Even then, I gave it a try because so many people swore it has good deals. Deals? Yeah right? For about close to a year I checked the Groupon app daily. I compared it to Amazon, travel sites, Costco, Target, Walmart, and some newspapers. Fail every time on Groupons part. It is not cheap! Everyone might claim that it is, but just shop around and use something called GOOGLE! It's not hard to find better prices. And other sites have very reasonable return policies. I gave up, but I was determined to see what the hype was all about, so I kept checking the daily app. Groupon is basically an AD Site that pretends to not get involve with every purchase, but they are the only ones you can talk to. Don't try to contact a service or retailer on your own, because most of the time the information is not there. Groupon is the middle man, just like a friend that never pays you back or the Grinch. Purchase #2 I purchased a Acqua Di Gio cologne because it was a little cheaper than amazon. I didn't mind waiting 2 weeks for it. Open App- check out- credit card- confirmation - Close app. All done. Then I received 2 confirmations numbers for the same product. I reply back that I only purchased one not noticing the sketchy no reply email address. Really? There is no contact information on the email. Nothing regarding canceling within 2 hours. It just says if you want to change your shipping within 2 hours. Ordered March 26 and it actually shipped on April 1 a week later. Really 2 hours to cancel? Wow. Nice scam. Keep in mind I only ordered one. I made sure that I selected only one from the check cart option and I reviewed my final price before purchase. Contacting Groupon The website says 24/ 7 customer service, my ass! That means you can email them but they won't check it. So, I found the CS phone number from google, because their site has a bunch of useless crap about their company, but you can only find their phone number if you know where to look. They customer care was closed and only opens CST 8-5 weekdays. Keep in mind I was traveling in Hawaii, so I was basically F'd. They don't answer emails when closed. Here is a shorten version of what happened next. My email- I only purchased only one item, but received 2 confirmations please cancel my second order. Gp Email- "sorry we haven't got back to you.... busy" Gp Email #2- Sorry this purchase doesn't work for you. Try giving this as a gift. Since you didn't candle within 2 hours your order has been processed or shipped. In the future do this.... My email #2- I canceled with one minute of the groupon error... This is unacceptable error on Groupon's part I will contact my credit card company to further assist me. Gp Email #3- same BS in different words. It's too late. I contacted American Express and told them what happened and he almost laughed in disbelief. I wish I was joking, but this really happened. I am exceptional with computers and internet. I'm not an idiot. I can repair and network and do must things that most IT departments would not know how to do. Don't insult my ability to make a purchase and cancel it.
