Customer Reviews & Testimonials
I'm so glad I got to visit Yerevan Cafe! It was such a treat. For one thing, the decor is beautiful and ties together wonderfully - the pottery elements throughout the cafe follow a theme which is echoed in the dishware used for hot beverages. There's a lot of art on display and attention to detail, and that is echoed in the food itself. This was my first time trying Armenian cuisine and it was an enticing introduction!! We got drinks (an iced mocha and a cherry blossom latte) which I quite liked, though there were a lot of options I would really like to try next time! We had the Yerevan trio - khatchapuri, sarma dolma, and soujuk pie as well as lahmajun. I hope I get the chance to return. They had fridges in the back with Armenian ingredients you can buy. The soujuk, which is a beef sausage, was so flavorful, and I'm pretty sure I saw some in the fridge. I've got to get my hands on some Armenian cheese too, because clearly they know what they're doing. Next time I'd really want to try the red lentil and apricot soup... Also, the trio came with pepper paste and labne - I thought both of these were phenomenal additions. Last but not least, we picked up a slice of garun and a slice of honey cake. Truly delicious. I would love to try everything on offer... Beyond that, I found the staff very nice, and it's worth mentioning that the spot is very accessible for those new to Armenian cuisine - the menu explains what each dish consists of which I found super helpful!
One of my favorite coffee shops in DC!! Tucked away in the outskirts of Adams Morgan, Yerevan may not look like much from the outside, but this hidden gem is an absolute delight. The staff is all super friendly, and they have the most incredible selection of pastries, coffee, and tea. I have probably tried half of their pastry case, and I continue to be impressed with each and every item. I absolutely adore their homestyle baklava -- the phyllo dough is perfectly crispy and soaks up the honey and nut mixture beautifully, and the dessert is simultaneously decadent and not overly sweet. The honey nugget is a great little sweet bite, and is the perfect gluten-free treat or small pick-me-up, and the honey cake is absolutely incredible. It's a smidge overly sweet (as the main flavor is, as the name implies, honey), but it still manages to be amazing. Beyond their lovely sweets, their drinks are incredible. They have one of my favorite matcha lattes in DC, as well as a matcha rose latte that is perfect when you're looking for a hint of spring. Their coffee is also wonderful, with a great nutty aroma and deep, robust flavor. It's also served in the cutest little Armenian mugs, which really adds to the overall experience. The space is shockingly large, with 4-5 larger tables and a couple 2-person tables, all beautifully arranged with cute little flower pots and throw pillows. They even have a small stack of books and board games if you get bored of yapping and need something else to keep you entertained. It's the perfect, cozy little spot to either read, work, or catch up with friends.
I was pleased with my food there. The menu is not too big but there're lots of Armenian essentials. Pretty affordable considering Washington prices. My only advice to the owners would be to extend business hours until at least 10pm, it closes too early in my opinion.
Yerevan is a cozy cafe with a cozy menu. I was hungry so I ordered the Yerevan trio. The stuffed pastries are so good. I should have saved room for dessert because the choices looked scrumptious.
Cute & cozy little cafe with nice Armenian comfort food, coffee, cocktails, beer & wine Red lentil & apricot soup was a warming & a tasty way to start my lunch. Like a slightly sweeter, fruity dal. Soujuk pie w/ flaky pastry & the pleasant sour bite of feta made a satisfying pair. Astarak salad was good but nothing out of the ordinary & unfortunately they were out of the signature dressing but substituted labne which was good & part of the dressing recipe anyway. For a drink, the little devil in me couldn't resist ordering a Tsirani coffee on an intermittently cold & rainy Saturday afternoon. double espresso w/ Apricot brandy. Lovely spot, busy but not hectic w/ people working at their computers, chatting, enjoying snacks or a drink & lunch midday on a weekend. The atmosphere was light, full of tastefully curated art, calming music. Unassuming yet pleasant. About 10 small tables & a couple comfy chairs in back to relax at if you're not eating a meal. Staff was nice. Small yet interesting menu. I really liked the flatware, dishes & cups. Very pretty & functional. Overall an enjoyable experience. I'd like to return again to meet with a friend or to get coffee or another drink & read or do some work
One of my favorites in the area. I've tried several menu items and enjoyed everything - honey cake, red lentil and apricot soup, zhingyalov hats, etc. Big fan of the rose latte and Armenian coffee (and the gorgeous mugs they are served in). Also a nice place to get some work done during the day (free wifi).
Phenomenal!! This was my first time experiencing Armenian food and I will never forget it. The rose matcha latte was the best matcha latte I've ever had. I got a honey cake which was rich and delicious. Will be back.
Very nice locally owned restaurant. Definitely a hidden gem. Food and Coffee is excellent. Recommend a combo plate. Will be back for happy hour. Looking forward to trying the flight of Armenian wines.
