Elizabeth F Cheney Mansion

This was the perfect location for my 18th century dinner party. The house and grounds are stunning. Andrew was my event coordinator. He was so very easy to work with. He and his team were totally awesome on the day of. I will definitely use this venue again for future events.

Attended the Bach Cellar Suites Music and Wine Tasting on 11-22-2024 & it was great. It was small & intimate which added to the experience with comfortability & being able to enjoy the music of the Cellist & wine tasting/education of the Sommelier. 6 Bach suites were performed & wine tasting pairings provided. The whole event was extremely entertaining. I went solo & enjoyed every minute...definitely would do again.

As a native Oak Parker, I grew up going to the Cheney Mansion for family photos and daddy-daughter dances. While my husband and I were unable to have our wedding at the Mansion because of our larger wedding size, we were able to take STUNNING photos at Cheney before our wedding ceremony in Oak Park. The Cheney Mansion staff was so easy to work with in getting a photo permit for the day, and allowed us to use so many of the rooms and outside grounds for photos. The photos were beautiful, and we are so happy to have had this historic piece of Oak Park be a part of our big day! For anyone looking for a unique, classic place for wedding photos, Cheney is an excellent and easy choice!

I recently photographed a wedding at this venue & the whole experience was lovely. The staff were wonderfully helpful and communicative. The space is really gorgeous. I would love to work here again!

As a Chicago wedding photographer, shooting at Elizabeth F Cheney Mansion is always a delight. The vintage charm of this venue adds a special touch to every photo. It's one of my favorite venues to photograph weddings, and I always look forward to capturing beautiful moments here.

On June 1, 2024, we had a disappointing experience at the Cheney Mansion during my wedding. We had planned for a small wedding with around 30 guests, but due to rain, we had to move everything inside the mansion. Upon arrival, we were met with an unfriendly worker named Santa, who seemed upset about the rain and the extra work. I requested a specific way to set up the wedding, but she did not listen and had the vendors set up according to her preferences, using less space to minimize her work. We were only allocated a part of the mansion, not the entire first floor and I wasn't provided with a dressing room. Santa allowed to stay in the bridal suite but kicked out my children, even though I needed their help to get ready. Santa announced to our guests and vendors "It's raining and the wedding is canceled," which was disheartening for all of us to find out. Throughout the afternoon, she continued to complain and falsely claimed that she had reached out to both me and the groom. During the wedding, the same worker scolded us for choosing the smaller wedding package, embarrassing us in front of our guests. She kept informing everyone that we were only entitled to certain things because we purchased the petite package. Additionally, the next day when we picked up our belonging they didn't include our cake and cupcakes. They called when we got back on the road to tell us. We were forced to give it to them to the mansion worker. A week later, I tried to contact her supervisor but didn't receive a response from Cheney Mansion. I am very disappointed with the way we were treated at the Cheney Mansion simply because we purchased the smaller package. It makes me wonder what package would have been suitable for our 25-person wedding? Don't get me wrong it's a beautiful place to get married but if it wasn't for the other vendors it would have been a horrible day.

We attended the Easter event they had on April 6th. They hired a person to wear the bunny mascot and clearly he didn't want to, he was rude, unprofessional, keeps hiding from the kids, use the bathroom every 5 minutes and overall, he really seem unhappy, miserable and frustrated. I don't know if they forced him to dressed the bunny mascot or he was just a hangover, but it really ruined all the kids Easter. It is supposed to be a fun time. If you signed for a job, make sure you understand the job description. The organizers need to make sure that if they hire someone for a children's event, that person is able to tolerate children. If you dress as a mascot, you have to be able to play and make the kids happy, not just to sit and take pictures. They seem so focused on taking empty pictures instead of making good memories.
