Goldsmith House

What a wonderful find! We needed a place to stay for a wedding and knew nothing of Terre Haute but found this place on Google. And what a find it was! The pictures don't do it justice. Whether you are into interior design, art, or home craftsmanship, you are in for a treat. John was great. He was prompt in communication and accommodated our early check in request. The couple that had our room the day before wanted to extend another day and he reached out to see if we would accept a free upgrade to the SM Magdalen so they could keep their room (which is awesome on his part for both us and the other guests). I am SO glad that happened as the SM Magdalen room was so spacious, comfy and filled with light. Also has a lovely marble bathroom with a huge open shower. We are already trying to find an excuse to come back up for the night so we can try Alimentari/Bar Bosco (a cool looking Italian bar/restaurant) just down the street as Susan's breakfast was so delicious, we want to try her dessert spread there ;) If you are looking for a warm, welcoming and oh so pleasant Bed and Breakfast, look no further than the Goldsmith House!

The Goldsmith House is an absolute gem. The house is gorgeous; the innkeeper, John, has such an eye for beauty and everything is expertly restored. The pictures on the website are lovely but even they do not do the place justice! John makes you feel like a treasured guest, even a friend, and we enjoyed talking with the other guests too. Breakfast was huge and delicious and we felt so well taken care of each day. We will be back!

Our stay was fantastic. We will be coming back again. Typically, we stay in a hotel on Wabash in Terra Haute; the Goldsmith House is a much better arrangement for us. We have a child that is an athlete at Indiana State and come to town regularly for games. We are so glad we discovered this gem!!!! All aspects of the stay were special.

This was our first bed and breakfast and John (the innkeeper) definitely sets the bar high! He's incredibly inviting and hospitable! He provides top notch service and is a great host! The house itself is a great mix of old architecture mixed with modern style. The room was super comfortable! The breakfast he prepared and served was awesome!! We wished that we were there longer!! Whenever we will be in the area again, this is definitely where we will be staying!! John made our experience way better than we could have ever expected! Thank you again, John!!!

We were in Terre Haute for one night for a sports event. We are SO happy to have chosen the Goldsmith House. An artfully restored historic gem. We are pretty seasoned travelers with Airbnb properties but this was our first experience with a bed and breakfast. From the moment we walked through the door, we were greeted not only by the owner, John, but welcomed by two other guests. What a warm welcome! The next morning we had the most wonderful breakfast. (Went downstairs without my phone or there would be a photo of the beautiful plate.) Plentiful, with endless flavorful coffee, and a scrumptious pumpkin scone. We met another couple staying there and engaged in conversation that kept us enjoying their company for hours past breakfast. John is the epitome of a gracious host! The rooms and house are beautifully decorated and comfortable. You all need to experience what we just did!

Absolutely perfect experience at Goldsmith House! Exceeded expectations as photos don't do it the justice it deserves. John is an incredibly warm and kind host, and he's done an amazing job with his renovations. He's thought of every little detail in each room. The artwork and furnishings add the perfect pops of personality to this historic beauty. And the breakfast? Susan created an amazing meal served on beautiful china.

This is one of the best bed and breakfasts I've been to. The house is beautifully furnished and decorated. There was great attention to detail in the restoration of this house. Tasteful art adorns the walls all throughout. Best of all our host, John, was amazing. The breakfasts he made were healthy, beautiful and delicious. He was very pleasant and accommodating. Do not stay in a hotel if you are going to Terre Haute. Stay at the Goldsmith House. You will not regret it. My family and I stayed for my sister's graduation however this would be a great venue for a small wedding and/or reception or other gatherings.

We stayed about a week ago and had a wonderful time. John is an excellent host and seems to just care about people. At the price point you're never going to find a nicer hotel room as he's put significant work into restoring this beautiful old house. His taste in design is classy while still being inviting and he is an excellent cook. Stay here! You won't regret it!
