Dark Vassal Gaming

Any time I stop in there are always people gaming and hanging out. Friendly, knowledgeable staff; an all around welcoming environment. Game nights and tournaments throughout the week for various TCGs, Warhammer, etc. (All of which can be found on their Discord)! They give great value for singles being traded in, (better than any other location in the Cedar Valley to my knowledge) and their singles pricing is based off of TCGPlayer market price without having to wait for shipping and hope that it shows up! To top it all off, they've got a great selection of sealed TCG products, Dragon Shield sleeves, minis, paint, binders, dice, the list goes on. Do yourself a favor and give them a visit!

I went there on 22 March for the Journey Together Pre-release approximately 20 minutes before the event began. When I asked about getting a spot, the employee told me that all their allocations were met but that there were 2 no shows at the moment and that I could have the 2nd no show spot if the person did not arrive. About 5 minutes before the 1300 start time, I asked again and the same employee told me that he was attempting to contact them to see if they were coming - which was odd because I called them about a week prior to confirm if we could reserve a spot and they told me it was "first come first serve." While I'm waiting, I peruse their singles on their website near the desk where I previously spoke to the employee and then walks in another customer. The customer asks if theres any pre-release spots and the employee tells them that there are and charges them the $30 for the spot and the build-n-battle box. At this point, I am livid so I leave. I tried to do something fun to get into battling and support a local business but I'm never going back there again. Do not recommend this shop.

I have altered my review as the store has acknowledged the issue and has/will be resolving it. Good people working, good selection of products, in a spacious environment given the size of the store. My initial gripe was probably due to growing pains of the store, live and learn.

Fantastic LGS and now has a decent sized game room. Prices on product are very competitive and trade in rates on magic the gathering cards are definitely the best in Iowa!

Once I found out about this place and learned it was very close to my house I had to check it out because I use to play competitive card games in Middle School. Its been an outstanding place to rekindle that love for competition and card games. Friendly staff and owner is always going above and beyond to make sure his community is taken care of. This card shop is exactly what Cedar Falls needed for a long time. Although there are other card shops in the area most of them dont care much about the competitive aspect of them where as at Dark vassal its fueled by competition! highly recommend anyone looking to get into / back into a card game.

I've been here for warhammer paint night with my two boys 8 & 6, for a MTG prerelease. For board games (RIP), for trades. The discord app for dark vassal is so useful. On and offlinethe employees and the community that gather around this shop is so helpful. Good deals, fair prices. I wish you success and a place in the cedar valley forever!
