A hidden gem in the Iowa countryside. Wine was phenomenal and a good place isn't good without hospitable hosts. We were at their vineyard for their inaugural wedding and it couldn't have been more beautiful and welcoming.

Nice little winery located in an obscure area away from town. It wasn't easy to find either online or even in person but we eventually did. Anyway, when we finally figured out where it was... we pulled in and were immediately greeted by one of the owners. The winery is owned by a very nice and knowledgeable couple who are quick to teach you about their wines and the manner in which to drink them. They both took their time walking us through each delicate taste and aroma and the reason behind them. What goes best with each wine and the perfect pairing that would bring out that particular wines true potential. To be completely honest, 90% of their wine is too dry and bitter for us. They explained that the sugar it takes to make wine so sweet is what "hurts"the wine and will eventually kill us. Either way, we like what we like so they only had a few that remotely matched what we were looking for in regards to sweet and fruity. We ended up purchasing a bottle of Peach wine and another of Concorde.. Both served to be sweet and aromatic and were priced competitively with other wineries we have purchased from. If you like dry wines, information, and being taught about wine itself... you'll love this place.

We stumbled upon Barrelhead Winery while staying in Dubuque and couldn't be happier that we did! As avid wine enthusiasts who have tasted wines from some of the world's most renowned regions, we can confidently say that Barrelhead's offerings are right up there in terms of quality. The flavors are rich, balanced, and simply unforgettable. This is truly a hidden gem that any wine lover cannot afford to miss. A heartfelt thank you to Aaron & Jodie for crafting such exceptional wines and creating a wonderful experience for us! We'll definitely be back.

Located 15 minutes outside of Dubuque, this winery is worth the drive. Don't be alarmed when you pull in, the rustic setting belies a cute little tasting room. The wines skew toward sweets a little with some champagne-esque options.

If I could, I'd give this 10/10 stars. This place may be small but it's truly a hidden treasure. The owners are such nice people and the wines are top notch. I did the wine tasting and she even gave me an extra wine taste for free. The flavors of these wines truly stand out without any artificial sweeteners. My personal favorite was the blackberry wine, it literally felt like I was eating a handful of blackberries. I walked out with a blackberry wine and plan to return in the future.

Aaron is amazing! I've never been to a winery that cares so much about the quality of the wine. Aaron was so amazing and if I could give greater than 5 stars I would. This place deserves all the love.

The owner, Aaron- down to earth, calm, and peaceful. What a great human being! My husband took me here for my birthday and I have never been to a better winery. The service, the WINE! I have never tasted more distinct delicious wine in my LIFE! This place was serene, gorgeous, and peaceful and a picturesque place to enjoy a world class glass of wine. The company was outstanding and I am so thankful for the environment and hard work of all the individuals involved in this winery. I believe I will be making a trip out here time and time again simply for the WINE! Because it was that good!!!!
