As you can see from other reviews why I don't subscribe to this paper. I was going to look at obituaries when seeing an add for missing iowa childrens pictures. My wife and I do alot of traveling the tri-state area so I though I would look at some of the pictures. When trying the link it came back $1 or get a subscription. My thoughts, lame way to get subscriptions. I would think there are more professional ways to do business.

Customer service is terrible. They manage our website from a 3rd party and there is absolutely nobody to get a hold of. When talking to what they call "customer service" the person kept asking me if I had any subscriptions. I continued to explain that we don't and that I am trying to get in contact with someone about their website. None of the routes of contact allow you to talk to anyone local or anyone that can help you with anything other than trying to sell you stuff. We have been charged $400-500 per month for absolutely nothing and nobody to talk to cancel or do the work we need done.

refuse to close my account and cancel the subscription I had to open to obtain access to an obituary. 3 years later they are still charging me and refuse to close the account. it is not possible to close the account on ones own. I keep getting replies to the tune of " we're sorry you want to close the account...we cant refund you so you have to keep the service for the next x amount of time...have you heard about how rewarded our coverage is?" its fraud

Wish I read the reviews. Major run around to cancel a digital subscription. I find it hard to believe that a small journal requires a 10 minute or more hold time to cancel. They're very happy to take your money.

Bought a digital subscription, called to get it cancelled. Was transferred multiple times and couldn't get the "right" person on the line. Don't sign up for this garbage!

DO NOT GET A DIGITAL SUBSCRIPTION TO THE SCJN! The "Customer Service" is based out of the Philippines, and they are nothing but master manipulators who will do everything possible to prevent you from cancelling your subscription. You will waste your time dealing with people who are glorified thugs.

Signed up to read one article and it cost me a dollar. Then I tried to cancel my subscription and had to call in and got the run around for 20 min. Terrible customer service.

Please allow people to read up to 5-10 articles for free online for about 30 days before requiring a monthly subscription. This kind of service for people who want to read dated articles online for their convenience is an absolute disgrace and only proves you only care about the money, and anyone who cancels their subscriptions should be reimbursed for the money they didn't need to throw away if they're not actively reading your articles. Even $4.99 a month just to read online is a rip-off. The only reason not to subscribe to this newspaper is their repeated left-wing propaganda on news articles referring to politics and government, plus that kind of reporting doesn't speak for its citizens.
