Just been told by RCN that my final bill (I'm switching to FIOS because the bill is less than 25% of what RCN is charging for the same internet speeds) WILL NOT be prorated. I would NEVER recommend RCN to anyone, because: 1. Starting out at about $70/month, in recent months the charge has risen to $173/month 2. When I cancelled they required me to return equipment to one of their locations, none of which is within a 30 minute drive 3. They do not prorate the final bill. Apparently this is a change in policy. I asked them to forward me a copy of the notification but they refused, said I received it by email in March. I have no way of knowing if this is true or not. At any rate, it means paying roughly half the bill for services I never received. Do not go with RCN. In Response to RCN's reply: (1) I had been an RCN internet-only customer for SIX YEARS, since February 2019, when the bill was ~$70/mth. By 2024 it had reached $138 and by March 2025 it was $173. (2) In 2024, RCN changed its policies regarding the billing of customers who cancel. Apparently they used to prorate final bills but the revised policy changed that. They describe this as providing customers with service until the end of the billing period, but what it really means is that they continue charging you for days you do not use AFTER you have cancelled. The only way to avoid this would be to cancel on the last day of the period, bring the equipment back to them own that day, and start your new service on the same day. That is NOT friendly customer service--it's the practice of a greedy corporation.
I had some technical difficulties with my Astound modem at home and Astound sent a technician to my house to take a look. Michel Almassih (29701) was the most caring, respectful and knowledgeable person ever! He came in, asked questions to get a feel for what was going on and immediately fixed the issue. Along with fixing my issue and connecting my devices back to the internet, he also called Astound and helped me get a better deal on my monthly bill. Something he did not have to do, but did it will just care and attention. This gentleman deserves all the praises and Astound is so lucky to have him. He's smart, knowledgeable and his customer service is top notch. Thank you Michel for your patience and all your help.
It was okay service. After a few months, the bill went up every month by a bit but internet felt slowed down. It was strange. So I stopped my service. However, they still sent me a bill for the following month. When I called, they said it was their mistake but they told me I have to pay the taxes, which was $15. So I had to pay for their mistake. They apologized but I had to pay it. I didn't want to deal with the hassle any longer.
Victor 29660 came in and swiftly got to work! We were running into issues with a cable box and he came in and pretty quickly diagnosed the issue. He was efficient in solving the issue and, more importantly, was thorough with testing. Great experience overall.

The easiest and pleasant experience! I made the appointment the evening before and a rep was able to come out and set up the next day. He came very promptly. Appt window was 2-5pm, the rep came a few mins before and the setup was done by 2pm. Promotional pricing was best in this area. Would highly recommend. Seamless experience!
Not a single soul would rectify outage issue or even answer an email. No service updates. Maybe the worst customer service on the planet if they even have it. I genuinely think ai is more responsive. 0/5
