Customer Reviews & Testimonials
I found the Preston manor recently when looking for a locally owned place to stay with my family on vacation to Pittsfield. We were blown away by the exterior decorating and landscaping. Upon entering, the host was extremely pleasant and offered to carry my children to the room. Normally places offer to carry bags but any help was appreciated as they were tired from walking around the astonishing Berkshire Mall. The room was small and only had one bed for a family of four but there was a subtle aroma of buttermilk pancakes which was enjoyable. After enjoying a nice dinner at the nearby 5 Guys Burger and Fries, we arrived back at the manor to the owner organizing his stamp collection. He asked if we would like to help and since he was welcome to us we reluctantly agreed. 3 hours and several paper cuts later, the owner fell asleep under the kitchen table so we were able to escape to our room. We were awaken by the daily milk delivery at 7 a.m., which I didn't even know was offered anymore so it was a joy to have fresh milk with the rest of the incredible breakfast of scrambled eggs and grits. Overall we enjoyed our stay and I highly recommend the Preston Manor.
I had the best time of my life! I never thought Preston Manor could be so much fun. I've heard friends talk about this place and the food that they served but I wasn't quiet sure it was for me. That was until I won a all inclusive stay. The hostess really goes out of his way to personalize your stay with him. When I arrived I was greeted by a large man that I would have mistaken as an Rancore if it wasn't for the goofy Jar Jar costume he had warn to welcome me. I was then guided to my room which surprisingly enough was decorated in all things starwars .. even the President Trump shrine was decorated to match. It was almost creepy as to how the host just knew what I liked without me even saying a word. For breakfast I enjoyed Dubble stuffed oreo topped pancakes and all the bacon you can eat.. although there was fruit on the table you couldn't eat it "house rules".. All in all I can say for a fact I will be visiting again next summer!
Having personally known the owner and his meticulous attention to detail, I was very sure that this property would be immaculate and I was definitely not disappointed during my visit. Upon arrival, I was immediately overwhelmed with joy by a beautiful, red convertible Mustang. Although I didn't get a chance to experience it, I'm told that the owner is more than willing to take guests on a joyride through the city (outside of pollen season, of course.) But fair warning - even though you will continuously tell the owner how wonderfully kept the car is, he will seem unhappy about it. Don't take it personally. Additionally, I had lost my luggage in my travels and the owner was kind enough to offer me a limited edition Star Wars t-shirt to sleep in (for a reasonable nominal fee too!) The Manor also boasts unlimited movie options (my personal favorite being Ender's Game). And due to the ultimate efficiency of the owner, I managed to watch a total of 9 movies in 15 minutes! Every night there was an Oreo on my pillow and the distant sounds of World of Warcraft playing to lull me to sleep. Definitely planning to go back sometime soon!
I took my family for what I thought would be a peaceful retreat to the country. With budgetary restrictions in play I had narrowed down my final options to a 4 night stay at one of 6 remaining Howard Johnson's or the newly renovated Preston Manor. While both offered clean sheet's and free cable access, only one offered an all inclusive "Meat-lover's breakfast" with an advertised "unlimited refills on 2% chocolate milk". I stationed up my family in room 346, which was surprisingly difficult to find on the 1 level ranch home. Our room appeared to have a hard time finding it's theme, plastered with re-printed photos of President Regan and his family, and complimentary Heinz ketchup and Mustard bottles in the bathroom. We ultimately never found use for the mustard. The night's were not unbearable, but were often haunted by faint sounds of NASCAR reruns muffled in the room next door (Which was oddly enough titled "The vice president's suite") Overall while our stay was not traditional, our host were enthusiastic and paid great detail to my daughter's handicap (She was born with a crack in her butt). While it is not necessarily my cup of tea, I can see the demographic.
Great experience overall. The deep fried Twinkies and Oreo's were served as desert. The breakfast that was served during my visit was wonderful. Pancakes with Ring Dings on the side along with Ice Cream... Not a place to go if you are watching your waist line. Great views of the city and off the main road. Plenty of places around to visit. While the host did not want to go outside I went to Ken's Bowl and enjoyed a night out. I believe you will enjoy the stay.
I wouldn't say this place is comfortable. The beds are really small and very squeaky. There is one shower between 6 people, which has almost no water pressure at all! If someone uses a tap anywhere or a toilet flush the water pressure becomes barely a drip, some of the people don't clean up the oil from their cooking. The toilet paper ran out and is meant to be supplied by the host but I had to go buy my own after the cheap host only offered to buy single ply. The floors creak very badly and the walls are very thin so when anyone moves or speaks you will hear it. I wouldn't stay here again, especially not for the price and lack of breakfast options...(seriously who only keeps Cookie Crisps for breakfast!?!)
Upon arrival I was introduced to a pair of gentleman that were very "physical" and was told that in the morning I would have wonderful breakfast full of smiles and sugar. The night i stayed was movie night and let's just say I've never seen such a gruesome movie but oddly satisfying. To this day I refuse to talk about it but it was one for the ages. Upon sleeping and waking up with a dog and peanut butter at my feet I was greeted by these two lovely gentleman with some breakfast. The special of the day was eggo-waffles coated with the awe inspiring real Vermont maple syrup with a beverage of ginger ale not from the one guys father. Upon leaving the destination i was treated to the sounds of rough idling Chevy v8s and the ear drum blasting sound of Toyota pickups
I arrived at the estate on Friday morning to begin my weekend long stay and was greeted by a large bear of a man with a silky soft complexion who quickly welcomed me into his home and began to feed me treats as he showed me the property. The house is a lovely mix of classic Americana and modern day indulgence. After my tour I was shown where I would be staying, which puzzled me as I was led by the man into the yard behind the house. He gestured to the back of the yard "Right there is where you'll spend the night, it's small but I've never had any complaints about comfort." he said. I was puzzled, as all I could see was what one could describe as an incredibly healthy display of shrubbry, but as I strained my eyes to look past, I saw what appeared to be a shed of some sort. As I approached my weekend home away from home I noticed that the shed had been made to look like something out of the wild west. A weathered shack brimming with character, I could tell that every corner of this abode was itching to tell me a story in its raspy asbestos coated voice. I was reluctant to stay in the shed but the days were hot and the lack of windows offered me ample ventilation to gain a comfortably long nights sleep. The neighborhood was very quite aside from one disturbance heard in the early hours of the morning. The empty portholes in the wall allowed me to peek out and see what had disturbed my slumber. I was surprised to see a woman dancing about the yard in a beautiful hand made dress, I do not know who she was, as the sun was not up yet. The only description I have is that she was of a height and weight very similar to the man that gave me the tour of the house the day prior, and she seemed to possess an almost identical head of hair. I was entertained by this non threatening display and promptly fell back asleep to her gentle cooing as she spun and danced gracefully around the yard in front of my hut. The next morning I was greeted to breakfast by the man and was not at all disappointed by the cuisine at hand. Eggs, bacon, toast, pancakes, and oreos, everything you could ever ask for, and all deep fried to boot. The man served me plate after plate of decadent food all with a smile on his jelly covered face..... or was it lipstick?
