White Bear Meadery

Had the occasion to find a hidden gem. White Bear Meadery is the type of place you don't find every day, but it is well worth the search. White Bear has an unassuming appearance on the outside but is warm and welcoming inside. As you enter, you are transported to an old Norse mead hall with all the character and charm. You will be greeted by friendly and knowledgeable staff that are a pleasure to speak with. White Bear has a broad variety of Norse named meads created with different types of honey with various herbs and fruits for a truly unique experience. You can order mead by the glass, growler, or build your own flight. With such an array of meads, everyone is sure to find something they will thoroughly enjoy. Although I don't get to the Minneapolis area often, I will definitely be making the trip to White Bear Meadery the next time I'm in the area.

Small little place honey based wine. You can order food like pizza, pretzels etc ... They have Viking theme decor. They have wine flights too.

This place ROCKS! I love a spicy mead, and the Dragon's fire had just the right amount of mouth-burn. My bf loved the Wanderer mead with notes of blackberry & MN honey. Sandra and her husband are so sweet and very knowledgeable about mead- it was fun to mix and match with our flights. We will absolutely be back!

Service was great! Atmosphere is so perfect for mead! And they had quite the variety of mead! We really liked the cherry, currant-cherry, and coffee flavors! Tables had fun games to play too!

Josh and his staff are excellent hosts and offer a unique experience in their White Bear mead hall. The atmosphere is relaxed, cool, and inviting. They offer selections of cold and warm snacks, and of course, mead! I recommend the flights since there are so many choices to pick from, it is hard to just have a single glass. The meadery has a focus on local ingredients and quality. Don't miss checking this meadery out if you're visiting the Minneapolis area!

It's "a place" in White Bear Lake. The location (odd location) you can call it, it's in the middle of nowhere. It's trying to make it look like the original Vikings but there is no real Vikings in MN or even close to it. Looks like St. Paul/Minneapolis suburban folks who discovered the earth is no longer flat. Good discovery at last. The mead is honey based alcohol/wine. A more serious effort should have been made to have some reminiscent look and feel of the actual Vikings. Going half the way it's not always something impressive. I only liked the "Yule" because the blend of the cranberry and orange is a very intense blend to make it noticeable. In small samples some of these different flavors of mead taste like cognac or other alcoholic drinks but most of these only exist and have no reason for it. The cranberry based one, it gives you a weird after taste but it's as good as it can get. Other flavors are not that great in my opinion because you don't get a vibe or an aftertaste. There are 23 flavors where some are kind of weak but I stick with "Yule". It's definitely good they have small samples to try it. The food there is not the greatest for the price. Other than that, it's clean the workers are decent and it's a good place but kind of far unless you live close by.

This place is so cool! Great selection of mead, knowledgeable staff, and fun vikings theme throughout the Meadery. My favorite thing about this place is that it has a dedicated area for kids to play, and it's very well done! It was such a treat to drink delicious mead while our kids had a blast playing in the Kindercorner. Overall, the White Bear Meadery is a fantastic (Kid & Pet friendly) spot in the community for people to hangout and drink delicious mead. We will be back!

As others have said, awesome selection of mead, great staff, wonderful atmosphere, lots of food options, and a cool shop (stocked up on different kinds of honey (Aster honey!)). I want to add that there's a super cool kids area! Viking themed. Dress up, books, building blocks, a table with their own fur bench, chalkboard, and a TV if for any reason the rest of that fails. I love that its got a half wall and door and two tables right outside. My husband loved every one of the seven meads we tried in the flight. I will say I think I discovered that I don't like mead and I should've started off with just one 4oz pour instead of a whole flight, but they have great sodas for me when we come back. Our kids (2 and 4) did not want to leave. We also took note of the super cool Loki themed party room that's available for a very reasonable rate.
