Customer Reviews & Testimonials
We've lived in Joplin for 4 years. Every year the Sparklight internet service gets steadily more and more unreliable. In 2025, it's to the point where service is dropping periodically multiple times per day. We're going to have to try a different service soon because it's simply too unreliable now. Comparatively, in 2021, this was very rare, but it's steadily degrading month by month. The line signal does not appear weak, but service simply cuts out for periods of ~30 minutes.
I'd give them zero stars if I could. I have a business on Sparklight right now and a personal account for my home internet. They raise their prices constantly without telling me. They will send you physical mail (even if you're paperless) that says "final notice" on it only for it to be an envelope packed with ads for other companies. They'll stop your auto-payments every few months so they start building up and this past time they even got rid of my card on file so the only one on file at the moment is one that expired in my first year of their service. My favorite part is how they call you weekly to try to sell you on their other trash services like "Sparklight TV" or a phone line. Or better yet a 1 year locked in contract for internet where they lower your price by 10%. Terrible company. Terrible customer support. Terrible practices. If you can get internet (or any other service they offer for that matter) elsewhere do yourself the biggest favor and just avoid being a customer of this company.
Kind of a crazy experience. Moved from Joplin to Duenweg. Literally 10 minutes from my old house. I've already had spark light a couple of years and loved it. I call to transfer services they set up a date for me. No problem. Then the day before my scheduled hook up I get told they can't hook up in Duenweg yet since they literally just buried their cables here in town. I was told they didn't really know when I could be hooked up but they'd let me know. I was told not to pay anything until it was transferred over. Fast forward to today. 3 months later and I call since I haven't heard a word from anyone and I'm now seeing signs advertising spark light in my neighborhood and find out my account has been canceled due to lack of payment. They tell me I have to pay on my past bills in order to reconnect my services even though I've been waiting on them this whole time. And living without internet. Very unprofessional. Very disappointed. I still have my equipment and everything and they refused to hook me up unless I pay first.
They have made the process very difficult. They ask for an account number but when I enter it it doesn't work and they just give me the run around. My Internet is spotty at best and I have the second best plan in the middle of town. They also have bad customer service. It's like they don't want your business.
Just got this internet in my rural area after years of not being able to find a provider that offered speeds over 5 Mbps. The technician that came out to service me was very professional and kind. I got the 1 gigabyte package, and run consistently 700-800 Mbps download, with around 50 Mbps upload. This is a dream. Love it! Haven't had any issues thus far!
Posting review from hotspot since internet is down and you cannot access their website. This has been a consistent problem since they were previously Cable America. They have quite possibly the worst internet service in the business. This is compared to AT&T and Mediacom. While their competitors are notorious for poor customer service, at least their service is much more consistent. This company provides limited tech support. And every time I've called in and spoken to someone, they've had to send a tech out so then I have to be home. This happens a few times a month. The irony is they can never find anything because they cannot reproduce the issue. Of course not, the internet is working when someone comes out a day or more later. I've had times when techs say the issue is with my router, but I have a modem. And somehow they're unable to see signal dropping to it even though it needs to be registered in their system for it to be recognized. If you live in an area that has another major provider at comparable speeds, use them. You'll pay the same (or less) for the same advertised data speeds, and likely won't have near quantity/ frequency of issues. Edit: I couldn't even post an outage on the company's site. Initially it was down, and when it came back up it says they don't provide service in my area. They sure send me a bill every month. Just think about that concept before you buy. A company providing internet data services, doesn't even have the infrastructure in their own company to update a self-service option. Edit 2/25/2025: The response from Sparklight is trash. "We're available 24/7." No you're not. You close at 11p so when the internet goes down for 3+ hours at 11, you're SOL. "You can go online and get support via the website." Okay, when I go through the chat option and ask if there's an outage, I have to log into my account. But the chat functionality doesn't recognize I'm logged into my account so it becomes a never ending cycle.
Paying $80+ a month to never have internet. Tired of having to call them to attempt to fix it. Down for hours EVERY day for 3 weeks. My wife works from home and is about to lose her job over this, it's ridiculous. Crazy we happen to be in the 10% of Republic that only has this terrible company as an option. Do not go through them if you have a choice.
Unprofessional and tacky at best. Business advertising sales guy harassed us at least 2 times a week for a month to collect our bill. Then proceeded to tell our other advertising tv stations to stay away from us saying we wouldn't pay them. Brought supervisor in once to discuss next advertising round while she says she doesn't follow us on Facebook anymore. Not a good company to advertise with as if you don't pay your bill or are late they physical come your business to collect and will continue to harass you and spread gossip to other companies. Businesses beware of advertising with them as the results are not worth the hassle...
