Ottawa Marriott Hotel

The Marriott in Ottawa is a decent option, but my recent stay left me feeling that some aspects could be improved. This was my second time staying here, and we come to Ottawa a couple of times a year, so I have a good sense of what to expect. Overall, the experience was good, but not exceptional. One of the highlights of the stay was the staff--most of them were very friendly and welcoming, which always makes a difference. There was one staff member who wasn't as pleasant, but I understand that everyone has off days. The rooms themselves were fine, though I personally don't love carpeting in hotel rooms. The bigger issue was cleanliness. While the bed and main areas were in decent shape, there were noticeable oversights: the bathtub had stains, the bathroom sink still had water marks from the previous guest, and the exhaust vent hadn't been dusted in quite some time. These small details make a difference in the overall impression of a room. Another issue was with housekeeping in the common areas. Room-service dishes sat in the hallway on my floor for the entire four days I was there, which was disappointing. It's the kind of thing you'd expect to be cleared within a few hours, not multiple days. Despite these issues, the stay was generally comfortable, and the location is convenient. I wouldn't rule out staying here again, but I hope to see some improvements on the cleanliness side during my next visit.

Let me clarify something, I've staid at this hotel more times than I can count and I will continue to stay here. I'm a fan of the location and it's always been decently priced for what you get. My complaints are pretty gently and start with the rooms, they are outdated and in need of a face lift. I've been told that they are in the process of upgrading rooms and the lounge so I'm excited to see what they look like when they're done. The restaurants food is good, the variety is lacking sometimes but that could also just be me because I'm there so often, take this with a grain of salt. Also for some reason anytime I get the food to go it is packed horribly. The amount of times I've eaten a warm salad from a box containing hot food and cold food mixed together is crazy. With that being said, the taste is always great but they need to work on that. My absolute biggest issue is consistency with staff and professionalism. Some of the staff are the greatest people I've ever dealt with and make me feel so welcomed as a guest and unfortunately some of the staff make me feel like I should be honoured to be in their hotel. There's never consistency and that's a big issue, if you're going to be at the front counter then there should be some level of enjoyment coming from you. Let me make myself clear, there are a lot of staff there that do an amazing job and have always made me feel special and welcomed! I just wish that the few that don't seem like they want to be there would leave and not be there because I don't want to be helped by them anymore haha. All in all I will go back and continue to stay here, I just hope that these few issues get worked out and I'm excited to see what the new rooms look like when they're done!

Rooms are decent but a little dated. Bathroom is quaint...polite way to say small. In room toiletries were lack lustre for a Marriott group hotel. Super fun amenities for kids and teens A great gym...hence extra photos for gym bros Water and ice machine on our floor. Elevators are fast.

The hotel is in a great location. The pool and gym are great! The rooms are spacious. The not so good is no working WIFI/internet for 3 days! The mattress and pillows were so soft one just sinks into them - very uncomfortable. The room had large windows that were very dirty. Cigarette buds were left on the balcony. The carpet in the room does not looks clean. One can often hear loud noises from outside. There are two kids play areas mostly everything is broken and not maintained, it would be nice to have more and actual working games. I would not return to this hotel with the price I paid, I thought it would be much better. We left disappointed.

I've previously reviewed this hotel as I stayed in the summer of 2024 for about a week. I recommend it as a good hotel in a great location. I was given a small room on a lower floor overlooking Kent Street. It was clean and cosy. It included a fridge and coffee maker. I know some of the rooms have splendid views of the Ottawa River and the city but since I was only there for a few nights and was out most of the day, I stayed where I was.||The staff are very pleasant and helpful and the ambiance on the foyer level is good. There's a good restaurant and bar. The food served is superior to most of the food I tried in the area, so I recommend the restaurant too. It closes fairly early though like most of Ottawa, so check the hours.||I do think it's overpriced but most hotels are now.

I had a great stay at the Marriott Hotel in Ottawa. The room was very clean, well-maintained, and comfortable, making for a relaxing stay. The service was excellent--staff were friendly, professional, and always ready to help. The location is also convenient, close to many attractions in the city. Overall, a great choice for anyone visiting Ottawa. Would definitely stay again if go back there!

Hands up those who have had this experience: the room had no COLD water. Both sides of the faucet emitted hot water for both the basin and the shower. We called downstairs and they sent up the bellhop who took us to another room. Same problem. No cold water. I suggested that he find a room with cold water and then come and get us, which he did. They were doing renovations. I figure someone hooked hot water to the cold water system to a section of the hotel. Another odd thing. There appeared to be no vent fan in the bathroom, so the steam built up. Other than that, friendly, apologetic staff. Great TV. But we spent only the night, so could not evaluate other services. No comp breakfast either.

We arrived at the hotel very late due to a snowstorm, and despite the long day of travel, we were warmly welcomed by Farrukh at the front desk. He was incredibly friendly and helpful, making the check-in process smooth and ensuring we had everything we needed. His kindness truly made a difference and made us feel at home. The hotel itself is in a great location, making it very convenient for exploring Ottawa. Overall, we had a great stay and will definitely choose this hotel again in the future!
