Customer Reviews & Testimonials
Alight in the heart of State College has competitive prices compared to other housing in the area. They have wonderful amenities that compliment their clean, affordable, and up-to-date housing. The staff is helpful and friendly for any of your housing needs. Highly recommend!
I strongly advise against moving here! The apartment was in terrible condition when I moved with leftover food, spiders, and fruit flies everywhere. My room had a disgusting carpet stain, and when I reported it to the front desk, they were completely unhelpful. They told me they don't handle carpet cleaning and that I'd have to take care of it myself. To make things worse, a month later, during an inspection, they charged me an outrageous $495 for the carpet! The staff at the front desk(mindless bots) were dismissive and unhelpful throughout the process. Save yourself the stress and look elsewhere
THE REVIEWS ARE TRUE AND ACCURATE. These people will hand you a decrepid shared apartment full of broken, stained and unserviced items and when your lease is over they charge you for them. I'm sure they do not fix them even after charging so that the next occupant pays for them again. STEER AWAY and if that is too late, document everything in video and writting.
(Edited: the WiFi is better now) Some of the lowest rent rates around. Decent amenities, washer and dryer in the apartment is nice. The WiFi isn't the best but it gets the job done. The maintenance team is very helpful and very responsive, although the cleaning done between tenants is poor. Expect to do a lot of cleaning when you move in because they pretty much just rely on the previous occupant to clean the apartment when they move out.
I lived here for three years for grad school. Until I moved out, I would have said the Park earned four stars. For the price it is an average to above average college apartment. Great location next to grocery stores/Atherton, not far from campus, and being next to Tudek park is a huge plus. However, the management has been a nightmare since moving out. They have charged me $330.99 in damages and cleaning fees (which is also the EXACT amount they charged my three roommates). I have sent management three emails and called asking for a real itemized list of damages and charges and I have been ignored. I asked for a copy of my move-in inspection I completed, again ignored. These charges are fraudulent, predatory, and best of all, violate the Park's own lease agreement which only says to return the apartment in a "clean and sanitary" condition. One of my charges was for a command hook on the wall. You know, one of those hooks that DOESN'T damage the wall. I also couldn't even tell you how much they charged me for that hook because the charges aren't properly itemized. And they're not itemized because it is apparent the Park charges these fees to all tenants even if you return your apartment cleaner than you received it. What makes this even worse is documenting will not help you. I have multiple pictures of my cleaned room from when I moved out, have sent them to the landlord and STILL have been ignored or told "a manager will call you" (it's been three weeks, still waiting on that phone call). I have included pictures of my apartment on move-out so you can see what the Park deems to be $330.99 in damages and cleaning.
Mckenzie is great!! She answers all of my questions, and she is super responsive. She very much cares about what she does and it is awesome to feel heard and cared for!
My experience living at "Alight" was extremely negative. From the very beginning, things went wrong: on the first day of moving in, we were given an apartment that was in a terrible condition because the previous tenant had left it dirty. We repeatedly contacted the "Alight" administration, requesting a thorough cleaning, which is their responsibility when handing over an apartment. However, for an entire week, our requests went unanswered, and we never received the cleaning. What was especially frustrating was that after we moved out, we were fined over $600 for allegedly not cleaning the apartment. This despite the fact that we left it in much better condition than we received it. One example that enrages me is the state of the bathroom. On the first day, it was so dirty that despite all my efforts, the dirt couldn't be completely cleaned. I did my best to clean it but was unsuccessful. In the end, they fined me $100 for cleaning the bathroom themselves. This is outrageous, considering the average hourly wage in Pennsylvania is $15. I don't believe it took them 7 hours to clean the bathroom to justify such a fine. Overall, I am extremely dissatisfied with the "Alight" administration. If you are considering moving into this place, I strongly advise you to think three times before making your decision. My experience showed that their service is far from satisfactory, and you may face unfair treatment and fines.
I had an extremely disappointing experience living at Alight State College Apartments. From the moment I moved in, it was clear that the conditions were far from acceptable. The apartment was in terrible condition, with garbage left behind from the previous tenants. It was clear that no effort had been made to clean or prepare the unit for new residents. The issues didn't stop there. Throughout my time living there, the staff were consistently unhelpful and unresponsive. Any attempts to address the poor living conditions were met with indifference and a lack of professionalism. To make matters worse, after moving out, I was shocked to receive a charge of $395 for cleaning. This was particularly infuriating given the filthy state of the apartment when I moved in. It feels like nothing more than a money grab from a company that clearly doesn't care about its residents. I would strongly advise anyone considering Alight State College Apartments to look elsewhere. The poor living conditions and terrible staff make it a place to avoid at all costs.
