San Marcos Discovery Center

Awesome place! Staff is so knowledgeable about native plants and animals and they offer many free activities during the year!

gorgeous! came for a plant sale and loved looking around. typically aren't open on weekends but were for their sale.

Fortunately it was open on a Saturday. He was not clear on when trail started. We found it and enjoyed the walk. Will go again.

This is a sweet find! My kids enjoyed the craft option inside and walking the gardens out back. A hidden gem right off the freeway! We were there an hour and it was a fun option to try something new in summer! Highly recommend!

The information center was very helpful. Person at informational center was so helpful In providing the information about San Marcos and places to visit in San Marcos. She gave the kids coloring books and materials so that they are Enga he for around 30 mins when we stopped there. It was really very good experience.

I used to volunteer at the Discovery Center as a member of the Hays County Master Naturalists. I love the seeing the variety of trees. Its a great place to get calm and pull some weeds. Due to road construction, the DC is easy to miss. It is next to Herbert's.

They have fish including a drop off for unwanted pet fish, turtle town, a snake, an arboretum trail, and helpful information about all the city parks. Great place to go and learn more about nature in the city. They also host awesome programs for all ages.

We were warmly welcomed by the staff, shown around and introduced to all the animals. The corn snake and turtles were so cool! And we also got some great advice on all the best things to do and see in the area!
