I've been a TDS customer for several years but recently was experiencing random outages. Scheduled a service technician who was very helpful but wasnt able to correct the problem. He informed me that Fiber was in my area and I should convert my current router from coax to fiber. This is my second home so I scheduled the upgrade when I was able to make the 4 hour drive. At the appointed time, no technician showed up. I drove to the TDS office in St George to see what was up rather than waiting hour on the phone to talk to someone in Jamaica. They told me the appointment was for the next day. However, technicians showed up later that same afternoon but their order was only to upgrade my current coax service. I explained to them what I was told by the St George office and asked them to verify. After the technicians spent 20 minutes on the phone, they were embarassed to tell me that what the St George office told me was incorrect and no order for an upgrade was in the system and it would be several days before it would be able to be scheduled. A wasted 8 hour round trip! I'll be looking at what other services are offered in this area. (and my service still is not working)
I will say every technician that we've had out to our place has been incredibly helpful. However our issues persisted after multiple visits and the consistent dropping of the internet connection made them loose my business. On top of that when I went to cancel my services in person and return my equipment I was told I was "good to go" when in fact I still had a payment due to their system roll over that month deleting all auto payments details. When I asked over the phone if you payments around paying I was met with snappy short responses that did not make me feel heard as a customer.
Weird to say but it's been the best internet service I've ever had. Price vs speed is cheaper than anyone (we always maintained 300 spd most the time 350 residential), only lost service once and it was back up within 20 minutes. Customer service was excellent except for 1 person who was horrid on the phone though it may had been a language barrier, I just called back and got my issue handled right away. All around great company for us personally. Shame you guys aren't in Chicago except for crappy DSL. FYI, we ONLY used their wifi internet. Not sure about other services
Worst internet provider out there! PLEASE READ! The customer support is awful, I can't understand them and they don't know a thing about Internet. They also continuously transfer me after simple questions like "can we double check the MAC address you have on file?" As well as setting up your account is an absolute nightmare! It takes DAYS!! Yes days, to add new equipment to your account so I hope you don't have an issue with work the next day cause it's not getting fixed. Not only that I had them add my equipment and they told me it would take a few days for it to work and when a few days passed it still didn't work. So I called and they said no equipment had been added so I had to add it again and wait another couple days!! As well as when I set up my account they never sent me an email or gave me an account number. I still have no idea how I'm supposed to pay yet. For all I know I don't even have an account with them still! Any other internet provider will have all this done and figured out within a day. It's been a few weeks process with TDS
I didn't even get my internet installed before I got a taste of TDSs TERRIBLE customer service! Signed up Monday. Was told would probably get equipment Friday. So, she set service to start the following Monday. We'll, equipment came Wednesday. Good sign I "thought". Called TDS to get walked through "self installation". Was told I had to be transferred back to customer service to "ADD" the equipment to my account because my account did not show any equipment. I was on HOLD FOR AN HOUR AND 7 MINUTES before I gave up and hung up! Tried again today. I was on and off of hold for OVER 20 minutes before I was told I would have to be transferred to someone else TO START OVER BECAUSE MY ACCOUNT HAD BEEN "CANCELED"! She didn't know why or how it got canceled yet she HAD ALREADY CONFIRMED MY NAME, ADDRESS, AND PHONE NUMBER! I loaded up the equipment and drove clear across town to hand deliver their EQUIPMENT BACK TO THEM! If what I had already experienced was any sign of future customer service I wanted NO PART OF IT! I took my business elsewhere!!
TDS is absolutely awful. If you can get a different provider I absolutely would! They just changed the way their billing is and it's a complete nightmare to figure out, just when you think you did it correct, think again. It's not going to work. Then your next statement comes and you owe double! The steps you have to take to get enrolled in a new billing cycle is a joke and totally inconvenient to the end user. You say you can't find my account number All the information I got on the phone yesterday was not even for my account when I logged in it was somebody in a totally different city the new billing system is absolute BS and no one at tds can give any clear resolution. The instructions to set up a new billing payments is horrendous.
Avoid TDS at all costs. My service was shut off due to non-payment--not because I didn't pay, but because auto-pay takes 1-2 billing cycles to activate, something they never informed me about. After paying the bill, I was told my service wouldn't be restored until the end of the day, plus I had to pay a $25 restoration fee. This is just one of many issues I've had with this company. During installation, a technician left my house claiming there was an outage and they couldn't complete the setup. When I called TDS, they confirmed there was no outage--the technician simply needed to call in and make a few adjustments. The lack of communication, poor customer service, and constant headaches make this company one of the worst I've dealt with. Absolutely terrible service.
Trash. They have good internet when it works but customer service is a joke. Was on the phone for almost 2 hrs on Friday to resolve a problem in billing they created, that i never even got through to a rep. Today, Tuesday took another 38 minutes to cancel service, lady on the phone said it would be disconnected at midnight, 5 minutes later, off. I've been with these guys for years. Get you in on a promo for around $50 then three or four month later you're closer to $100. Version hook me up with almost the same speeds, 200 vs 300 for $55 locked in. Ill never use this company again.
