Customer Reviews & Testimonials
Ting worked super well for my roommate on the ground floor of our townhouse where Ting installed the modem, but it consistently dropped the wifi for me and any upstairs devices, including a TV that was wired into the router we rented from Ting. Another huge issue is that Ting only has one type of router, so they can only send you a new device if yours physically does not work. If the router can't work for your house/apartment, there is nothing you can do to fix it. Ting's fiber network really drops the ball inside when it has to disperse through the router system. The customer service line is hit or miss on a good day (at least twice I was on hold for over 45 minutes or did not get through at all after holding for so long). Despite trying to work with Ting's customer service reps on the phone and live chat, we still had issues with all the devices which weren't on the router plugged into the ground floor modem. Trying to cancel our service was another huge mess because you can only cancel by contacting Ting's customer service via live chat or phone. They don't even have a survey where you can tell them how to improve as a company after you finally manage to connect with a rep. Honestly, Ting works for some people, but when things go wrong, good luck trying to get help.
I try to go by their shop front to sign up for internet service in person, but this location doesn't even exist. 300 East Main St is not a real address. They wasted my time. If they can't even put a correct address, how reliable is their service?
Terrible customer service. Live chat is useless. Can never get a person on the phone with a real answer. Frequent outages that they never fix quickly. Surprise fees. Not worth the hassle they cause
Horrible customer service. Tried to set up Internet and got jerked around for weeks because a "supervisor" wouldn't respond to the Ting team to get my availability. Lack of comms - I had to call 4-5 times - and poor professionalism all around. Didn't expect this from a local provider. Had to go with Xfinity. Would not recommend.
In 2015 Ting came to Charlottesville. They had a neighborhood party/introduction at the local elementary school. Ice Cream truck, free swag and Ting folks to answer every question. Installation was not only free, but a cash donation was made to the elementary school for every house that enrolled. When the sign-up drive was over, not only was I super happy with Ting, but so were most of my neighbors (Johnson Village). The school was awarded a large check, $4000, from Ting. It's hard not to gloat when Comcast goes down in every storm and Ting is streaming away for three adults and two teens. Almost ten years later, the price is the same and we could not be happier! I
Customer service with Ting has always been their strong suit. Human, responsive, kind. But today it went to a whole new level. Due to a hack, I'd canceled all of my credit cards and am now waiting to receive replacements. Those have been delayed by the weather and my automated billing with Ting, not surprisingly failed. I contacted Ting to explain the situation, only expecting a few days grace. Instead they credited the account as paid. No worries until the next billing cycle.
I work from home on the Internet all day, and I no longer need to think about my connectivity, thanks to Ting. Things just work. It's fast. It's always up. No problems. The couple of times I have had to contact them, I immediately talked to a human who was both knowledgeable enough and empowered enough to take care of me. That, in itself, is so pleasant in today's age of "help centers" with no contact information, or miles-deep phone trees. If you are in Ting's service area and using someone else for Internet service, you're doing yourself a disservice.
Ting is one of the best companies you will find in any sector. Friendly, competent customer service. Timely installation. Service guys who actually know what they're doing and think ahead. I"ve been a Ting customer from day one, had their service installed in four different residences and businesses, and have never had a delayed or bad experience. If only the rest of the world could function at this capability :)
