Saga Meadery & Winery

After a subpar winery experience, we decided to stop here since a few of us hadn't tried mead before and what a terrific decision. All the staff were at once kind, knowledgeable, and welcoming towards us and our dogs. If you're on the fence about stopping in, it's absolutely worthwhile. The bar is set high for whatever meadery I go to next and I'll probably try to stop back here or go to their other location in Luray.

Excellent service, cute and clean venue, and some awesome and unique meads and cysers to try! In general, not overly sweet as meads can sometimes be, nor too dry. Tastes were not always our very favorite (we've visited many meaderies), but it is easy to see/taste why the Sunburst Citrus is their flagship mead, certainly lives up to the hype! Sweet Heat has a perfectly-balanced level of habanero spice, and is a unique must-try along with the Sphynx PB&J cyser. Other fruit meads and cysers are all a delight, and if IPAs/beer is your thing then the Kelpie cyser is for you, expertly hopped. A must-visit if you're in Front Royal!

Saga is some of the best mead I've ever had with the best customer service! My friends and I walked in with a group of 15, celebrating my fiance and I's joint bachelor/bachelorette trip, and Cowan was truly the best host. He was extremely educated on the products they sell and so energetic! Really made for such a fun experience. I would recommend this place any day and will definitely be coming back next time I'm in town!

If you're visiting Shenandoah, Saga is a perfect place to have a drink and some food after your hike! Excellent mead, personable owner, and kid friendly. Having tried meads in the past, I found that the selection and flavor profile for each of Saga's meads (we tasted all of them ) was unmatched. Each mead's flavor is distinct and delicious; the best meads I've had to date. We enjoyed it so much, that we walked out with 4 bottles to share with friends in the future and joined Saga's member club to receive 4 bottles in the mail every 3 months. The owner knows his product and takes care to make the experience enjoyable for customers! He even had organic juice for our kids!

Stopped in on our visit to Virginia. This is THE BEST place to go for mead. Hands down 15 out of 10! The owner was very nice and informed us of our different options to pick from. I will be letting family and friends know this is a must visit spot if they are down in Virginia! We definitely will be back!

Well worth the stop - tiny little place but delicious meads that are unique and well rounded. The owner Kevin was in while we were there and he just oozes with pride in his product which makes for a really great experience. Highly recommend making this stop, even if it's just on your way through town.

You have to try this! We live in the area and this is one of the best spots in town. It's a different type of alcohol which is a nice unique thing to do and talk about. Also makes for a great and interesting gift! The bottles are big and the prices are very very reasonable. Oh and the taste! So many flavors, I can't pick my favorite. It's very smooth and easy to drink. Oh and they have a frozen slushy version!! Can't say enough good things. Get a flight to try as many flavors as you can then buy a bottle for your home and get one for a friend! Oh and the drink lasts a long time after the bottle is open (unlike traditional wine).

My wife and I stopped by after hiking in Shenandoah National Park. I hadn't had mead in forever and I never knew how great it could be. We split the two tasting flights, which were delicious! My favorite were the bourbon barrel and the sangria mead. Saga Meadery is a must stop the next time we visit Front Royal.
