Customer Reviews & Testimonials
single-handedly the worst ISP i've ever used. I cannot even begin to describe my frustration. Extremely slow speeds, loading times are abhorrent in literally every way possible.
I'm so glad I was finally able to switch internet service providers. I have been using Weird Wireless for several year, simply because they were my only option, in my area. The internet was sufficient, at first, but has been slowly going down hill. It's because they've been packing too many users on their servers. Weekends and holidays I couldn't even do a simple web search on one device. I've had technicians out to the house and spent many times on the phone with them. They all say it is working as expected, but their expectations must be pretty low. Most of them were pleasant. I talked to an older technician on the phone and he was extremely nasty. This December I didn't have internet for the entire month. We've also had days and weeks without internet (I've never been compensated for them). When I mentioned having to jump on my neighbor's internet (Starlink) to pay my last bill because I didn't have internet, I was just ignored. Then WOW increased my monthly charges and I was able to find another provider (J&R Electronics). So I switched at the begging of the month, of which I was payed through. The next day I they sent me a "Past Due" bill that addressed their 30 day termination period at their new fee rate and some random guy to crawl around on my house, while I was out of town. Mind you, my internet transmitter was on a pole in the yard. Not on my house. So far my new provider's service has been amazing. We're paying less, with ten times the speed as WOW. All in all, the people at WOW seem nice enough on the phone, minus the one technician, but their service is awful, they're not customer focused, and they will screw you over if you let them. In my mind that is not good business, and that is why I'm writing this review.
I believe that this company having 3 stars is honestly very generous. The service is abhorrent, the connection speed is never consistent. Customer service?? you can't even really call it that, with this "company" no such thing exists. They only want money it would seem. I would never recommend this internet provider to even my worst enemy. When we called to report a problem, we were told that they wouldn't send someone over 1 customer having issues, that it would only be worth going out for 4 or more customers. Not worth it??? Guess your service isn't worth our time then. Would rate 0 stars if I could. I never go out of my way to write reviews, but with this, I feel the need to.
If what you are looking for is internet speeds from the early 2000's, then this company is the right one for you. Expect frequent disconnects, constant packet loss, unstable down and up rates that constantly go way below what the contract advertises. Feels really great knowing that you can get internet that has about .125 up and occasionally 1 MB down. You are lucky if you can get above those rates and have it stay consistent as it should be. Really recommend that you avoid this company. Tech support is also incredibly unhelpful as they will always say that everything is good on their end, despite the fact that the numbers you are getting on your end are not quite what they should be.
Very poor almost absent service! I've been calling in twice a week for the past 4 weeks to sign up for service and making zero progress. I've been told over 8 times that someone would call me back and I have never received a call back. I would highly recommend WindWireless over Air-Pipe, I wish I could use WindWireless service but the direction of their tower is blocked by trees. I will update this review as things progress with Air-pipe. Update 11/13/19: It has been 12 days since I made this post and I have still not received a call back as I was told. My first contact with them was on 10/9, over 5 weeks ago. Update 11/26/19: After they rescheduled one site survey they made it out today. Unfortunately they they weren't able to provide service to my property, no fault of theirs, too many trees in the direction of their tower. The technician was friendly and professional.
My internet has been on and off for four days. I have now called four times and no one ever calls back or tells me what is going on. The technician was also incredibly rude. Will be looking for other internet options tomorrow
I first became a customer of Air-Pipe in 2003, and stayed with them until about 2014. By then, their speeds were slower and costs were higher than what was one of the only other options for rural Spokane - Cougar Wireless, so I went to Cougar. It was OK for a while, but speeds became really bad on Sundays, and every time I had to call for a service interruption I had the displeasure of speaking with Janet, their President and Chief Rudeness Officer. Recently, their service was out again for me and they dispatched a tech the next day to look into it. That's a $75 charge for the customer, even if it's the fault of Cougar Wireless. In this case we were told that their radio, installed on the outside of my garage, had died and it would cost us $250 to replace it. I was neither home nor in cell phone service, so Janet spoke with my wife over the phone, who initially declined to have it fixed until Janet told her that we would have to pay for it whether they fixed it or not! My wife begrudgingly authorized the charge to the credit card on file with Cougar Wireless. After I returned home I called Janet, who seemed to take pleasure in arguing with me for 15 minutes and finally challenged me as to what I was going to do about it. I ended up cancelling their service and filing a dispute with the credit card company. While the dispute was still open, she threatened to turn me over to a collection agency if I did not pay the bill (again) within 4 days. This is against VISA's rules for merchants while a dispute is open. Not only that, but she billed not the current credit card on file and the one that had been used for auto-pay for the previous two months, but instead billed the previous credit card which I had told her two months prior was no longer to be used! Why did Cougar Wireless still have that information on file?? I can tell you that in my 53 years I have never dealt with a business so rude and viciously committed to taking a customer's money as Cougar Wireless. So, as to Air-Pipe...it turns out that a year or two after I left them, they upgraded their equipment. When they came out to do a site survey, they spent a great deal of time in figuring out how to obtain a clear signal because I had a lot of interference from pine trees. They didn't give up and finally found a spot and did a very professional install. My upload and download speeds test at 3-4 times faster than the speeds I had with Cougar Wireless, and for less money per month as well! So far they have been pleasant to work with and I haven't had any service interruptions. UPDATE:: It's been over a year now since coming back to Air-Pipe, and although there have been a few service interruptions, they have always been pleasant on the phone and responsive to fixing the issue. Plus, I have much faster internet for less money. This is in stark contrast to COUGAR WIRELESS, which sent a collection agency after me when my bank eventually ruled in my favor in my dispute with them. In addition, the owner of COUGAR WIRELESS Dox'd me by posting my personal information online in his response to my review. Would you want that? The technicians at Air-Pipe told me it was absurd that COUGAR WIRELESS was blaming me for their equipment failure. Having been a customer of both these companies, I rate Air-Pipe MUCH BETTER than COUGAR WIRELESS!!!
I had air pipe for 5 years due to being in a remote area. The internet was just OK, but I am limited on options where I live, and they offered me the best plan for the best price. Recently, my internet seemed to be slow/spotty. I went on vacation for a couple of weeks, when I came home it was not working at all. I called to see why and the lady said she needed to "ping" my router from her end. It worked (poorly) for a few more hours then stopped again. I called back, got another person, who informed me I had been dropped as a customer weeks ago due to cell provider taking over the tower they used to provide my area internet and I was 1/12 customer they could no longer service. I was extremely upset because this had apparently happened almost a month prior, I was given NO warnings or notifications that I would no longer receive internet and had paid a whole other bill cycle thinking I was still their customer. I tried to ask them who they'd recommend for internet in my area now, and they couldn't offer me any advice. I'm stuck now searching for a new internet provider, with very limited options and no internet at my house in the meantime. I would've at least liked a notification prior to this happening so I could've been prepared and had time to find another provider. It would've also been nice if the person who accepted my payment over the phone would've told me I wasn't a customer instead of just taking my money.
